Old(ish) fishing ad's...

I was looking through some older bassmasters the other day and come across a few ad's I thought were cool and brought back some good memories.

Pretty neat.  I wonder if fisherman were saying "some lures are for catching fisherman" at that time too.

I had everyone of those Manns baits .   the Snatrix  and of course the Wee R's . Never had the Lindy lures .

OMG, I could go on forever with this topic  Here's a few, with a backstory. When In-Fisherman magazine first began in 1975, they stated that they would not accept any advertising, because they were not going to be beholden to any advertisers. Of course, that stance lasted about 1 year, as in the May 1976 issue, they had "ads" for 5 different companies, the first time they ever accepted and published them. However, they didn't refer to them as ads/advertisers, but instead, “co-op patrons,” companies who would finance their projects as “Friends of Sportfishing Research.”

Then I got divorced... Now I got a nice collection of memories

I use to have every issue of In'Fisherman. Donated them to a school project on structure fishing. I also still have Lindy's "Big Book of Fishing". That was published sometime in early 70's. It featured Al & Ron Lindner, along with Bill Binkleman. I believe it is the first publication depicting the famous "Lindy Rig". I'll have to see if I can find some "old stuff" in the attic!

At a seminar during the early 70s Tom Mann was asked why he made Jelly Worms in so many different colors. Tom answered, to catch fishermen, a bass has yet to put a penny in my pocket.

I would give a new Tatula for my old bassmasters from the 70's and 80's.  Remember when a bass Pro Shop Catalog was about 24 pages ?

Manns had a lipless crankbait that was wide and no sharp corners , I'm  guessing three times wider than a trap . I remember it had good action but I  lost it early on . Cant recall catching anything with it . Its at the topof the page of Whitwolfs post . One of the coolest looking baits ever .
