Anyone heard anything about new kayaks available later this year?  Looking at tax season 2018.

I'm interested in kayaks too. I'm wondering how many will be peddle or motorized this year if they will be really pushing those things hard.

I wonder if they'll bring the BFS Conquest over here... I doubt it

I very much doubt it as they would of already. Wouldn't u rather buy it much cheaper from Japan. He was talking about the new Shiloomis Conquest 700 dollar rod.

I'd like to hear info on the new NRX/Conquest.

I didn't hear or c anything about a new NRX did u? As for the Conquest I will have to own one...or several. Can't imagine or think it's possible to have built a stronger rod that is as light and sensitive as the NRX. But if it's really close in sensitivity and weight with Torzite guides and new color scheme (thank god) then I'm all in. Don't care about the strength have no problems with the NRX's. Looks like the added price would mostly be the expensive Torzites (which should be on the NRX) and there spiral X wrap or whatever they call it. And as far as weight and sensitivity we won't know till they come out. But I'm positive if they were more or the same in weight and sensitivity it would have been mentioned in their discription which talked about strength and the Torzites as they would make for a huge selling point.

Well I already pre ordered the Huk flip flops and sportsmans energy drink as they are clearly innovations ahead of there time!

Im interested in the St. Croix Legend X rods. They look pretty nice and I'm wondering how they compare to the Legend Elites

I imagine they are the same blanks, just a different build, and yet another hideous colour scheme! LOL

Feelfree is finally releasing their motor/pedal drive for around $2500 on it's own and are offering a new kayak - even bigger than the Lures designed around it.  I'm expecting the new boat to be in the Hobie price range.  That being said, I've been trying to deal with their customer service for months over a rudder kit with missing pieces and it's been extremely frustrating to the point where I posted about it in their Facebook owners group asking if anyone has had similar bad experiences.  Their response?  Blocking me from the group.  I generally like my boat, but the customer service (despite their continued insistence it's the best in the industry) will likely have me looking at the new Coosa w/pedal drive if/when I decide to upgrade.

It's just your opinion, but keep in mind they keep this site afloat.

....I think that the most important piece of equipment or item to the fishing industry every year is the technology of fish finders. These things are a huge part of anglers arsenals now. Without them fishing off shore is a waste of time.  16 inch screens and unbelievable detailed imaging, gps   it's like playing video games.  It's probably the weakest part of my fishing skills.  The younger anglers brought up in the computer age have this stuff down pat.  Make them so old men like me can play.

I think this is a great point.  Ever tried to read a sonar manual?  I mean, really.  And don't even get me started on side scan....even one of the manufacturer's web sites use to say something like... if you don't get it...fold up a paper contour map like a Mad Magazine Fold-In...and just maybe...you'll sort of get it for five minutes....really?  Just watch what happens when this 55 year old accidentally changes from having DS on a split to a single screen....takes me a week to get it back

Just out of curiosity @Glenn do they have a trade show/sportsman's show for the general public (i.e. Joe Q. Fisherman) that have all the new goodies and the professional personalities a la KVD etc.? If so then I totally agree with you that ICAST should be off limits to those who have no business being there but if not, that is ICAST's fault/oversight for not having one and if I was a vendor I would welcome the opportunity to show off my new wares to the public and generate even more interest in my products. After all if it weren't for the regular Joe fishermen nothing like ICAST would exist, even the tourney pro's that make millions of dollars from tournaments and advertising started out as just a regular guy who was most likely taught to fish by his father, grandfather, uncle or friend of the family...the fishing industry is driven by the general public's interest in the sport and not the hot shot tournament guys. If the general public's interest in fishing waned and/or they started turning a blind eye to fishing in general ICAST and all of these pro circuit tournaments would eventually dry up and disappear! I know when I was into saltwater reefkeeping they would have a HUGE national vendor show once a year called MACNA where all of the top vendors and new vendors to the industry would gather in a sportsman show style atmosphere to display all of their new products and to network with other vendors and this show was completely open to the public, all they had to do was buy a ticket as these vendors knew that the public was their meal ticket so they welcomed them with open arms. I may be off base here and if I am i apologize and like I said, if there IS a show similar to ICAST that is open to the general public then I agree 100% with you about keeping ICAST privatized and asking the general public to attend the vendor show made for their benefit!

Every industry has exclusive shows like iCast.

I know around here there are three or four outdoor/sportsman/hunting/fishing shows through the winter that are open to the public.

Maybe if they just advertised ICAST through vendor channels and not post advertisements where the public can see and be notified that would cut down on the unwanted intrusions?
