Badfish61 Posted June 29, 2017 Posted June 29, 2017 (edited) I am replacing a reel I have been using for the past 35 years. For the last 15 I've mostly been fishing with fly gear but I have come across a pond that is so heavily covered in hydrilla that fly gear is mostly useless. The pond is a true honeyhole where we usually catch two to three bass over 8lbs per outing. Between these three bait cast reels which would you choose? And why? Abu Garcia Revo S Lewes Speed Spool LFS Bass Pro Pro Qualifier 2 I can get the PQ2 for 25% less than the Revo or Speed Spool. Last 8+ out of the pond. Delaware Valley Tackle Posted June 29, 2017 Posted June 29, 2017 They're all on the same platform and built in the same factory. If the PQ has the features you like and is most economical..... Quote

Looking for the big one Posted June 29, 2017 Posted June 29, 2017 Not mentioned, but... Shimano Caenan 150 Daiwa Fuego Own a Caenan, and it is a great reel, one of my favorites. If you're not interested in these my vote goes to the LFS. I have held one and it was pretty sweet, however I like my caenan more. Quote

Super User fishnkamp Posted June 30, 2017 Super User Posted June 30, 2017 I have to suggest a reel that I have come to love. Take a serious look at a Daiwa Tatula CT. I fish 7 Daiwa Tatula, Tatula CT and Tatula Type Rs. The CT is probably a good all around choice. It should run you around $100 to $130 depending where you order it from. For me i love them, they are easy to fish with and are super reliable. Quote

kschultz76 Posted June 30, 2017 Posted June 30, 2017 In that price range I'd suggest looking at the Daiwa Tatula CT. The PQ isn't a bad reel, but in my hands the Tatula CT is the better reel. YMMV Quote
