Msbassin777 Posted June 26, 2017 Posted June 26, 2017 where I fish there is lots of vegetation on the bottom so it's rlly hard to throw any kind of jerk bait or crank bait. I would love to know color suggestions and new ways to rig worms. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted June 26, 2017 Global Moderator Posted June 26, 2017 Does the grass grow all the way to the surface? If not, a spinnerbait or bladed jig would be a good option. In dirty water, I'll usually go with dark colored plastics like solid black, black and blue, or junebug. 1 Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted June 26, 2017 Global Moderator Posted June 26, 2017 I only use 3 different colors...Watermelon with a little red in clear water, pumpkin for stained or what Bluebasser86 posted for dirty, muddy water. There are many variant color combinations but predominately those are it There are many ways to rig a worm...With or without texposeing the hook point, weightless, pegged weight to hook, free sliding weight, a weight pegged above the hook, on a jig head, wacky and shaky style etc etc If you have any specific questions or problems with any of them post it. Super User scaleface Posted June 26, 2017 Super User Posted June 26, 2017 In this situation I Texas rig heavy worm ,a strong over-sized hook and no weight . 1 Quote
MDbassin Posted June 26, 2017 Posted June 26, 2017 I agree with the no weight for dirty water. I was watching something one time and Edwin Evers said in clear water he wants his bait to fall fast so the fish don't get a real good look at it but in stained and dirty water he wants it to fall slow so the fish have a better chance of seeing it since in dirty water the visibility is so low Quote
Super User Catt Posted June 26, 2017 Super User Posted June 26, 2017 Bass in off colored water are lateral lines feeders, pay more attention to lures that move water and/or give of vibration than color. Quote
Scarborough817 Posted June 26, 2017 Posted June 26, 2017 bladed jig is your best bet or anything with vibration that is fairly weedless Quote
Super User soflabasser Posted June 27, 2017 Super User Posted June 27, 2017 buzzbaits, spinnerbaits, hollow belly frogs, and texas rigged soft plastics are good lures to use in low visibility water. Quote
FCPhil Posted June 27, 2017 Posted June 27, 2017 I was fishing these conditions today and the only bite I got was on a whopper plopper 110 in translucent bluegill color. I almost always start with topwater in this situation. If the grass to too thick maybe a hollow bodied frog or a Stanley top toad. 1 Quote
Hot Rod Johnson Posted June 27, 2017 Posted June 27, 2017 I use Strike King Rage Tail Lobster for catching bass in muddy water with colors of Black/Blue Flake, Summer Craw and Bama Craw... It's very important to have rattles inside of them... There’s no such thing as too many, and they never can be too loud... I use All Terrain Tackle Jim Moynagh's Football Jig for most of my jig fishing... This Jig literally Rolls Through Rocks, Gravel, and over Ledges without hang-ups... My primary sizes are 3/8 Oz. and 1/2 Oz. in colors of Moynagh's Magic, Natural Craw, PB&J, and Watermelon/Red Flake... 1 Quote
