DomQ Posted June 25, 2017 Posted June 25, 2017 Looking to get a swim bait rod to pair up with my quantum iron casting reel, won't be throwing anything past 4oz, been very interested in the bass x and mojo rods, same specs other then graphite blanks, about a 40 dollar difference here in Canada, would like some help between the two or anymore suggestions please and thank you! Dtrombly Posted June 25, 2017 Posted June 25, 2017 Have you looked at the Daiwa DX swimbait lineup? 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted June 26, 2017 Global Moderator Posted June 26, 2017 I'd look at the Dobyn's Fury swimbait rods. I have the 795 and it works great for baits up to around 3.5oz. It's rated to 5 oz, but I'd step up to the bigger rod if you're going much bigger than 3oz. 1 Quote
Selbor2u Posted June 26, 2017 Posted June 26, 2017 You can't go wrong with St Croix. Mojo Bass are great, lightweight & strong rods. I own a 6'9 M. 1 Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted June 26, 2017 Super User Posted June 26, 2017 Either would be a good rod, but the Mojo is going to be a little lighter/better balanced and more sensitive. To me it's worth the extra $40 but you can get by with the Bass X if you're working on a tight budget. 2 Quote

Not really working with a tight budget, just curious to see if there is really that much difference, and you did a good job at clarify that for me! 2 Quote
Super User Boomstick Posted June 28, 2017 Super User Posted June 28, 2017 I ended up getting a Daiwa Tatula rod, but the other rod I was considering was the St. Croix Mojo Bass rod. It's a great, lightweight rod and as you are likely to have it for a while, I would wager that it's worth the extra cash over the Bass X. Also as you can use that rod for frogs and other heavy techniques, you may find yourself using it a lot. 1 Quote
