jr231 Posted June 24, 2017 Posted June 24, 2017 Yep looks like melanosis . It's not harmful to us or the fish. 6 Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted June 24, 2017 BassResource.com Administrator Posted June 24, 2017 Have you noticed an increased number of black blotches on the sides and fins of the bass in your lake or pond? Here's why. https://www.bassresource.com/fish_biology/bass-blotch.html 2 Quote
Super User Darren. Posted June 24, 2017 Super User Posted June 24, 2017 Looks fun to me! Have a gander at the ball python breeding world. This bass reminds me of a bumblebee ball python. Other than that, I have no idea except for @Glenn's article reference. Maybe we can start breeding different bass sub-species! 4 Quote
Super User Gundog Posted June 24, 2017 Super User Posted June 24, 2017 Actually I think its one of those new NASCAR racing bass. If you look at the other side its sponsored by STP, Pepsi, AT&T and the state of Virginia tourism bureau. 6 Quote
Super User .ghoti. Posted June 24, 2017 Super User Posted June 24, 2017 I thought it was a rare largemouth peacock bass fish. 2 Quote

Melanin is the same compound found in humans. The production of melanin is stimulated by exposure to sunlight, it's the compound that gives us a tan, and the reason why humans living in the hottest climes generally have darker skin pigmentation. Kyhokie Posted June 25, 2017 Posted June 25, 2017 That's easy. It's a bandit bass. The color is fried squash. 2 Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted June 25, 2017 Global Moderator Posted June 25, 2017 House and a folding table in the background? Looks like a bass that's been in a cooler and lost a lot of it's color prior to going to the chopping block to me. 1 Quote

When I saw the picture of the fish it reminded me of a lemon blast. I used to have quite the collection of ball pythons and other constrictors. 1 Quote

My youngest has a gorgeous male bumblebee, waiting for proper weight to mate with two het-pied ghost females my brother is taking care of for us! Some unreal genetic combos out there. I still think it'd be really wild to catch bass in those combos. Rare colors, etc. One can fantasize, eh? Quote

I'm going to have to suggest "Zorro Bass". 1 Quote
