jim49 Posted June 23, 2017 Posted June 23, 2017 Heard often said dark colors for stained water and light colors for clear water any thoughts on this? Quote
Super User Cgolf Posted June 23, 2017 Super User Posted June 23, 2017 As a general trend I would say that holds true, but I have done really well with Black and Black and blue Senkos on a system you can see bottom in 10 fow, so it is not hard and fast. On clear water I have found that sun penetration drives the colors I use more. When bright and flat, more natural smoke based plastics work better. While on choppy days or overcast days water reds and green pumpkins rule the day. Unfortunately there really isn't a simple answer, but if I had to choose 4 colors to use forever it would be water red, smoke purple, Ron's Craw (a kalins lunker grub color that works everywhere), and Black/blue flake. 1 Quote

That Ron's Craw grub color is very effective. One of my favorite colors too. If you ever need to downsize, but are partial to that color, Berkley PowerGrub in Pumpkinseed, is a comparable pattern that does well for multi species 3 Quote
Brayberry Posted June 23, 2017 Posted June 23, 2017 I only use a few colors, no matter the water color: Green Pumpkin Black/Blue Brown/Orange Dark Purple (Junebug Typically) I've never seen a water color those 4 colors didn't work in 3 Quote

Personally I believe it's a big pile of BS, of course that ain't gonna stop me from purchasing the same bait in several eye catching colors. 5 Quote

I dont have a lot of clear water experience . When I do fish it I tend to go natural . Crawfish colors have worked well for me . Stained water I use a lot of chartreuse and white colors like fire tiger and Sexy Shad . Also , crawfish colors have worked well for me 3 Quote

It is a good crank color to start with and adjust from there. 1 Quote
