Anyone tried the new Teckel USA SPRINKER FROG?

I love Ragetail Toads but once they have a few bits the single hook is hard to make weedless and it gets caught up more. 

 

If this can avoid that it would be great. 

 

If the tails on the Teckel are getting tore up you can probably find a cheap replacement. Guys are making their own Sprinker Frogs.

It throws a lot more water and makes more commotion. It can be stopped and it floats in one place if a fish misses or the bait is near an edge or hole on the grass. It can be reeled pretty slowly. The tail has held up really well so far. I've likes it a lot better than the toads, if for the durability if nothing else. Toads are about as bad as Senkos in the durability departmentfor me, and they're not cheap. I've already caught more bass on that one Sprinker than I would on a whole bag of toads, and it's going strong and so is the tail.

This is the information that I've been looking for about this bait.

I went thru over 100 frogs/toads last year so durability is an issue. ( I got 50 cane toads

I use a wood burning tool during the winter and fix/make new baits with the pieces and parts from all my plastics.

Maybe I'll just make some tail,molds this winter ....

This lure is so hyped right now that people including myself are even making their own homemade version. I have 3 on order from TW but they are back ordered. 

 

So I received an email from Bama Frogs saying that they would be getting a shipment in at 2pm that day. 

 

Well, I thought to myself I already have 3 on order but I had success with my homemade version. Ordering 2 more real ones wouldn't hurt since I have no clue when the ones from TW might come in.

Ugh! Talk about 1st World Fisherman problems!

 

Stores can't keep this lure in stock. It sells out in minutes.  

 

 

 

 

At least I can still catch them on my homemade version. I used the instructions from 44 Tackle on how to make it but I think I will add a larger split ring and swivel to make it easier to retrieve.

I can't think of any other lure but I only been bass fishing a short time. Do you recall any lure that was as hyped and anticipated?

I visit BR every day...don't read every single thread, but I peruse daily...and I get emails from half a dozen tackle retailers...I never heard of the thing until the other day in the hype or enduring/famous thread....But, I suppose that threads like this are self-licking ice cream cones...or self-fulfilling or something...you may have just amped up the hype machine that you're remarking about

I haven't heard any hype about these?  Just threads here, describing stupid amounts of money being spent on them.  Personally, it's the goofy looking.  I won't be buying them.  Ever.

I just took a screen grab from a video at icast where (I think the owner) is talking about the various uses of the Frog and the ways you can use replacement tails.

 

He also says that it is Lucky Craft that is distributing his Products in the US.

Its the 1:25 mark where he starts talking about the replacement tails.

Looks like stoppers for spinnerbait trailer hooks.  You could also use clear, small ID, vinyl hose cut into small pieces, which is what I use to keep the trailer hooks on my spinnerbaits.

Sadly for the company I likely won't be purchasing one, but my homemade versions are working really well. So far I have used a Manns super frog and scum frog bass rat as a base. The bass rat runs really well while the Manns frog dives with a lot of line out, then runs nicely when it gets close enough. Essentially treating them as a weedless whopper plopper.

Im having  problem with the diving too. Problem is the frogs I'm using didn't initially have that problem. 

 

 

Gonna try less weight and ball bearing swivel.

I wonder if I went with a smaller tail on the super frog. I used the tail from a standard skinny dipper with that one and the Jr dipper on the scum frog. Maybe the smaller tail on the super frog would create less tail lift and not drive the nose under.

I have this and used it a few times. Problem is that it is not weedless and is too long. The Teckel Sprinker seems perfect length, basically the same as a regular frog.
