I've got a few Sprinker frogs and have used them a few times.  Hooks are angled just about perfectly up and out.  I haven't had to bend them.  Hook up ratio is no different than any tuned frog.  You can sort of walk them if you pop them. Not worth the gouging prices on ebay, but at $14 retail,  I think they are awesome.

Cool. Do you walk them or just straight retrieve?

Straight retrieve vary the speed accordingly.

Fill it with water and slow roll it, the bass crush it.

Hookup ratio may suffer a bit, but being able to run them in places a plopper can't go is a trade off I'm willing to make. The grass is hitting the surface at one of my favorite smallie lakes, and I should have mine in time to give them a test run when my dad and I go there in a couple weeks. Hopefully have a good report on them by then.

I've got to agree with Bluebasser regarding the plopper comparison for the same reasons. Looking forward to reading about how he and his dad did

I tried it out at a local pond today. The tail does a good job spinning or plopping, as opposed to my whopper plopper 90 which requires a quick jerk to get it going. Also the tail has the same action regardless of whether my rod tip is high or low (as opposed to my WP90 which needs the rod tip high). Got 2 hookups in an hour with windy water.

While my buzzbaits and traditional hollow body frogs have stopped working for whatever reason, I have been able to catch a couple on the Sprinker this past week. It plops nicely and must look different enough from the other traditional topwaters to be attractive to the fish. Two things so far I'm not in love with -- I hooked a 2# bass and dragged it in with a fair amount of algae. I'm guessing due to the weight of the fish + algae, the underside of the Sprinker tore about 1cm -- where the hooks come out of the body. I guess that's one of the things the Teckel frogs are known for -- soft bodies. The second thing is that when fishing the Sprinker through/over algae mats, the algae will get caught in the hooks and occasionally pull the hooks slightly downward -- so the hooks are kinda hanging over the side/butt of the frog. Obviously can't really compare this effect to traditional hollow bodies because those aren't retrieved quickly across algae like the Sprinker is.

Oh, there's one more thing I don't like about my first Sprinker -- the fact that it is now floating away somewhere in my pond because my line snapped   :(

Snag Proof made a similar bait years ago.  Hollow frog with a boot tail.  I have one somewhere.  Never used it.

Snag Proof Wiggle Wog. Had one, never used it over a traditional frog.  Didn't swim well at all.

I just bought 2 of them, waiting for them to come in! So haven't used them but will give them a hard run time!

Where?

I ordered 3 from TW bc of the sale but they are backordered. Can't wait to try them. Have some really great light weeds that I think they'd work on. I ran a Ragetail toad over these weeds and caught a nice 1.5lbs bass. I think the Sprinker would do great there.

If anyone has one willing to sell pm me price. Help a brother out. Got a big trip planned out for next week and right now its frog season here.

Ill trade for 2 whopper plopper 130. (Loon and a silver one)

Haven't made it out with my dad yet, but I did get to give one a test run Thursday, it's an impressive bait.

Yeah these work, or the fish will hit them I should say. I had multiple strikes yesterday morning before work but I've not got the hook set down yet. Great bait for where a buzzbait won't run through.

Maybe want to pull the hooks up a bit.

Can't wait. My favorite lake has the weeds just under the surface now, now even the WP 90 is getting caught up on the splashdown.

Hi guys. I managed to get my hands on a few of these new sprinker frogs. The Japanese can't pronounce "L" so they left it out.   As far as the frog goes, I am impressed. Comes through slop pretty good.  We have a lot of that cheese moss around my parts and it does get stuck on the swivel now and then. Have caught quite a few fish on one bait so far. The belly did tear on a 3.5 lber but I glued it back together. Holding up well.  Great on sparse weed flats and edges. It can call up fish in muddy water too. It's no magic lure, just another tool. Fish won't bite it during cold fronts. Lol. Overall I am impressed and look forward to using it this summer around reeds up north.   It does sound like a whopper plopper.

The hooks are different than most frog hooks. They're shorter and at a steeper angle. It would be pretty hard to bend them anywhere other than out slightly.

No, it's called the Sprinker, instead of Sprinkler.

It's in reference to the way the tail throws water, like a sprinkler.

Which, of course, then makes you wonder why they left the 'L' in Teckel, doesn't it, being a Japanese company, and all. :dontknow:

What do you think are the advantages over say Horny Toad/Buzz frog type of baits?

Does the sprinker have action when reeled slowly or does a certain pace need to be kept?

Do the tails seem somewhat durable?

I fish a lot of topwater toads and buzz frogs and wonder if this is something I should add to my line up or is it just more of the same that I already use.
