Ben Miller Posted June 23, 2017 Posted June 23, 2017 Hey guys, Just gotten back into fishing recently, and I have upgraded all my gear. Super excited about the Alabama rigs! But my best advice is: fish where in areas where the size fish you want to catch are. The amount of sized fish you wanta catch being in the waters you fish, are more important to me than what's in my tackle box. Trophy manage your ponds before you trophy manage your tackle box is my advise 3 Quote

Super User A-Jay Posted June 23, 2017 Super User Posted June 23, 2017 Hello Ben and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ No doubt, the A-Rig's got a reputation for getting some Good Bass; although my person success with the rig has been something less than that. Looking forward to seeing & hearing about the Trophies you get. A-Jay Quote

If you mean "target water known to hold big bass", all of the reservoirs of the Tennessee River and White River systems meet that requirement. On top of that there are at least twenty other impoundments within three hours of Memphis. I think the same can be said for a host of locations throughout the country. The challenge is FINDING the fish, but selecting the right lure and presentation is still very important. You are still going to have to make an investment in tackle and the choices are many. 4 Quote
Super User Deleted account Posted June 23, 2017 Super User Posted June 23, 2017 I just finished my book on saltwater fishing, I think some of it may apply to LMBs, here it is in it's entirety... Chapter one: Go to where they are at. Chapter two: Catch 'em. The End. 2 Quote
Bent Posted June 23, 2017 Posted June 23, 2017 We have plenty of hogs in Iowa, but not too many "hawgs". I fish in a small club, and the competition makes the search for that quality bite exhilarating, even if a kicker means 4 or 5 pounds instead of 8+ on a trophy lake down south. It's all relative. 1 Quote
Super User NYWayfarer Posted June 23, 2017 Super User Posted June 23, 2017 Shoot, I get as much enjoyment, if not more, in buying fishing equipment then I do in landing a fish 5 Quote

Wait a minute, I think ya'll are on to something, maybe instead of a book, I'll do a monthly magazine, and along with the crayons and stickers, I'll include 4 random baits... 2 Quote

Then to make it even worse everyone knows about those lakes so the fish are super pressured forcing us to get more and different gear each season;) Quote

I wish someone had told me this sooner! Good question but no...... I'm saying that people sometimes get more into their tackle than into fishing where the big fish are or even any fish are. For example, I'd rather hunt a trophy managed place than a anything goes kinda place despite the rifle. So I'm suggesting help make fish grow! I'd like to start a holiday where everyone goes out and buys 50 lbs of crawfish and feeds the bass and help em grow! Anybody interested? Quote
