Jartbek Posted June 21, 2017 Posted June 21, 2017 I just started this year and I carry a backpack with a bunch of soft plastics. one Flambeau container has three jigs, buzzbait, shudder rap shad, size 2 hooks, slip sinkers, split shot sinkers, and a crankbait. A small container with hooks. Scissors, pliers, digital weigh scale, and sunscreen. Quote

Now that I do the big swimbait thing I have separate boxes for those (and this doesn't include 80% of my soft plastics). That being said, I don't take this whole bag with me when I go fishing. I decide what techniques I'm going to be using, grab an empty 3600 box and throw what I need in there, then put that box, bags of plastics, tools, a scale, and a snack in a small tackle bag and take that along. This method works great when tagging along in someone else's boat. After the day is over I usually take everything back out of the small bag, put everything back in its place in the large bag, then repeat the process next time I go out. Now if I'm going to Toledo for a week to fish with my dad I just take the whole bag and keep it in his spare rod locker. That's the bag I have. You have more in there than I lol Quote
Super User NYWayfarer Posted June 21, 2017 Super User Posted June 21, 2017 I carry this when bank fishing. It holds up to four 3500 series organizers. I usually have 2 of the 3500 boxes is the main compartment and use the rest of the room for multiple packs of soft plastics. For a small tackle bag I am able to get all of the above plus wacky tool, tape measure, Yum scent spray, Hook-eze, sunscreen and bug spray. I have bigger tackle boxes at home that I store my tackle in. I transfer what I need for the trip to this bag and off I go. For trips where I am fishing for 2 hours or less I generally bring 1 3500 box in my back pocket. Quote

Super User soflabasser Posted June 21, 2017 Super User Posted June 21, 2017 How much tackle I take with me on a fishing trip depends on where I am fishing and what I am fishing for. I usually take a book bag with 1 plano box filled with lures, a digital scale, tape measure, couple water bottles, and 1-2 meal replacement bars. Other times I only take what fits in a small ziplock bag. Carrying more than this is just extra weight and I have no problem catching hawgs with minimal tackle. Quote

Bucky205 Posted June 22, 2017 Posted June 22, 2017 Fishing with someone else I limit myself to 3 rods and my backpack. Backpack holds 2 utilty boxes, a worm binder, and pockets to store other assorted whatevers. If I am in my boat there is a soft sided bag that hold 6 utility boxes plus the back pack, a few utiltiy boxes, and around 10 rods. My boat stays outside under a cover and I don't like leaving the rods, reels or tackle in the boat, otherwise I would just use a bunch of utility boxes. Quote
Attila Posted June 22, 2017 Posted June 22, 2017 I use the Plano 3700 guide series tackle bag. My utility boxes are broken down as follows; 1 x topwaters including poppers/walkers/frogs 1 x jerkbaits 1 x 3/8oz crankbaits, squarebills, and chatterbaits 1 x spinnerbait/buzzbait/flipping jigs 1 x finesse baits ie hair jigs, shakey heads, drop shot paraphernalia, assorted small worm hooks size 2/0 or 1/0 1 x assorted light cranks weighing 1/4oz or less 1 x ultralight tackle I put my chatterbait trailers, senkos, and shakey head plastics in the back mesh area. Everything else has a place from pliers to scissors to a couple of spools of fluoro for leaders. I also keep my face shields in the bag. 1 Quote
jim49 Posted June 22, 2017 Posted June 22, 2017 Not very big for a half day outing. I load what I need from my main box in to the backpack for that day. 1 Quote
