How big is your tackle bag?

Im posting this because im interested in seeing how much tackle other guys take fishing. I used to take everything i owned. Plastics, chatterbaits, a-rigs, roadrunners, spinner baits, buzzbaits,  etc... every new lure that came out i had in my bag. I started noticing i would swith out baits too fast, i wouldnt settle and as a result i wouldnt find patterns. 

This season i decided to go back to basics and now i just have a backpack, 1 plano box with some ploppers, frogs and a couple square bills. I carry 7 and 5 inch senkos, flukes, keitechs, some craws and some shaky head worms. Thats about it. I also carry a small hook and weight box so i can rig the baits any way i like. For plipping i use the 5 inch senko and for punching i use the 7 inch senko. For fishing deep i c-rig senkos or keitechs 

Where im trying to get at is that this has been my best season so far, and i think my tackle box has helped that. It makes me stick to the techniques that make me feel more comfortable. 

I want some opinions from you guys. Are you like me or do you guys think im limiting myself by using a very limited tackle box?

Depends on where I'm fishing and if I have fished it before. If I'm on familiar water I can narrow down the selection before I head out.

 

I fish from a kayak so I only bring two rods. One baitcaster for lures and a spinning rod for plastics. On a given day I will have maybe 8 lures on hand. Usually similar stuff in different colors and a couple different plastics, that's it. I have found that the more I bring, the more I change lures and second guess myself.

 

For example I'm going to a familiar lake tomorrow. Bringing with me 2 popping frogs (one black, one white), two regular frogs (one black, one white), a white spook, two square bill crankbaits (one blk/chart one green/wht), a few trick worms and a few yum dingers. At this particular lake, that will cover all my needs.

My bag holds 7 of the 3600 plastic trays.

Depending on where I am going and which lake, I will adjust those seven boxes.

Usually always have one cranking (mid to deep this time of year)

have one with stick worms, one with action worms, one with spinner baits and one with jigs.

The other two I will rotate out, ether creature bait, top waters, frogs, etc.

I too have a box for hooks and one for weights. they are smaller boxes and go in the side pockets.

 

I did see a video, and something I have been meaning to try. Is set up a "day" box.

The bait you really want to try based on the lake, weather etc. and it is suppose to help keep you focused

on catching fish with those lures/bait and not jump around.

I use a Spiderwire sling pack that has enough storage for two hard plastic boxes, my scales, GoPro, a spool of line, pliers, scissors, and however many packs of plastics I can shove in. 

 

I fish exclusively from the bank, so I don't care to carry anything more.

My bag holds 4 3600 boxes, I have 1 box full of jigs, 1 box for topwater & jerkbaits, 1 box for all my terminal tackle, 1 box for all my crankbaits. And depending on which soft plastics I'll be using that day I'll shove those in the side compartment. I typically start off with my confidence baits, if those don't produce I'll start throwing stuff I don't typically throw as much.

I have a bps bag. It's very large. It has 8 3600 size boxes. Jigs, trailers, flipping baits, deep water plastics, square bills, deep divers, jerkbaits/lipless cranks, and terminal tackle. Plus extra reel, spool of line, pliers, clippers, binder full of spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, 1/2 gallon freezer bag of senkos, sandwich bag of finesse worms and a cherry on top! Lol. I always take it with me when I go fishing, but sometimes if I know what the bite is or what it should be I'll only grab my pliers and a 3600 size box and toss some terminal tackle in there and leave the rest in my truck. Do I need all that tackle with me when bank fishing? probably not. But is it nice having the tools needed to get the job done when I figure out what the pattern isn't? Heck yeah it is

Currently using soft bag from Academy holds 5 Plano 3600 boxes one for spinner/buzz baits, 2 for crankbaits, 1 for crawls/lizards/frogs and the last for jigs.  2 side pockets carry plastic worms,tube baits, flukes etc and also has storage sleeve for pliers.  Definitely more tackle than I can use on any given trip but makes me feel better so it works for me. Remainder of tackle stored in extra Plano 3600's and changed out as situation dictates

there are times i only take my worm binder (sans sleeves and rings). i carry hooks, weights, spike it, megastrike, pliers, clippers, hook out, small scales, and plastics. and a fish towel.

If anyone needs a big bag, get those waterproof "boat bags" they sell at Bass Pro and a stack of utility boxes.  They go on sale every so often, and they will outlast any tackle bag from the usual suspects.  If you must have a "tackle bag," then I recommend the Flambeau AZ8.

I was just teasing.  Actually, the Bullet is not what I'd call a big water boat.  I much preferred my 18' Xpress for the lake.  Different "tackle boxes" for different waters...

I carry two tackle bags at all times.

 

One bag has one box in it that holds all my soft plastic weights and hooks and holds all my soft plastic baits, that's all that bag is used for.

 

The other bag has 4 tray's in it, one tray for cranks and traps, one tray for my underspinner hooks, frog hooks and extra treble hooks, one tray holds my spike  it dye and spike it pens, and the last tray holds all my spinnerbaits and chatterbaits and trailers. The rest of the bag is packed full of swimmin shad and ribbet frogs plus line, scale,extra knife,gps, two extra mags for my pistol and a flare gun.

 

I know the area's I fish and start with the usual suspect baits and if that doesn't get me a bite then I start to change and find the pattern.

 

Nothing wrong with keeping it simple but when that odd day comes when your fishing a well known area and the go to baits ain't working its always a good idea to have the bags so you can change out and find what they want.

This is my tackle bag. It's most of what I own. Now that I do the big swimbait thing I have separate boxes for those (and this doesn't include 80% of my soft plastics). That being said, I don't take this whole bag with me when I go fishing.

I decide what techniques I'm going to be using, grab an empty 3600 box and throw what I need in there, then put that box, bags of plastics, tools, a scale, and a snack in a small tackle bag and take that along.

This method works great when tagging along in someone else's boat.

After the day is over I usually take everything back out of the small bag, put everything back in its place in the large bag, then repeat the process next time I go out.

 

Now if I'm going to Toledo for a week to fish with my dad I just take the whole bag and keep it in his spare rod locker.

One tactical backpack housing one 4x3600 tackle bag plus soft binder.  Remainder of the backpack stores non-fishing necessities.  I could conceivably put 4x3700 and 2-3x3600 boxes in the main compartment if I ever wanted to.

For bank fishing i just stuff my pockets also. No need for a bag. Usually just a bag of senkos and i throw a couple frogs in there

i have far too much but it all fits between seats in my jon boat if i am bank fishing then i only take one box maybe 2 at most
