Since I've gotten back into fishing, it has brought my family much joy seeing me post many of my catches on social media or via text. Especially my parents. They told me the passion for fishing gene must have been passed down through both my grandfathers as well as my great grandfather. Here are the pics.

You guys are very lucky.

Growing up on the So Side of Chicago in the 50's and 60's fishing wasn't even close to one of the things we did or even thought of to do.

I wish it was...

You guys are very fortunate.

No real family history for fishing.  I'm certainly not the first in my family to try angling, but none had the passion to photograph their catches.  It was just something they did when it was opportune, or when they wanted fish for dinner, but not something to go out of the way for.  I don't have the bug that most of the forum members here at Bass Resource have, but I make an effort to get out when I can, even though it usually means at least a 30 mile drive.

Kudos for all of you who have a fishing family and learned while holding on to your dad's belt.  I certainly wish that I had had that advantage.  Happy Father's Day to all of those family and fishing oriented Dads out there.

My dad got me started.Caught my first fish when I was 4. My whole family usually went, which was sometimes My mom, dad, brother, an uncle, and 2 aunts. This was in Florida and I still fish a lot of the same areas. In NC I would go with another uncle,a cousin, and my dad.The biggest regret is that I never went with either grandpa because they both worked themselves to  death and died relatively young.

Both my sons fish, but one would live on the water ( and nearly has at times)

These are:My oldest son,me and my dad getting ready to go fishing, and my granddaughter.

Like MikeL said, being brought up in northern NJ during the 50s and 60s all the rivers and lakes used to glow in the dark.

Dad used to take me to BelMar and we would go out on a party boat in the Atlantic blue fishing a couple times a year.

Good memories!!!

My great grandfather used to fish as well, but I don't have any pictures of him.
