Super User Bankbeater Posted June 27, 2017 Super User Posted June 27, 2017 I seem to always start out fishing by casting into the shore. After a few hours when I have beat the bank to death with the bait I move out into open water and start looking for structure on the bottom. Quote

Love the old Saturday morning cartoons. I always confused Mumbly with the dog from the Wacky Racers cartoon named Mutley. He was basically Mumbly without the trenchcoat. 1 Quote

The one that baffles me is Angry John. I've had several voice, text and email exchanges with the man, and I have to say he is about as far from angry as can be. I'm more inclined to call him Gentleman John. So, amigo. Wassup wit da name I literally spend 5 minutes staring at my screen trying to figure out what you meant. Finally got it though 3 Quote

Super User the reel ess Posted July 19, 2017 Super User Posted July 19, 2017 In my younger days I worked in a manufacturing plant with some guys who, for whatever reason, had a hard time pronouncing my last name so they shortened it to a nickname. "Ess" or "The Ess". Then another guy came to work there with that same nickname so I jokingly called myself "The Real Ess." And since this is a fishing site, I changed the spelling of Real to Reel. Thus, TheReelEss. 2 Quote

StinkyBass Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 I had an airfreshener in the shape of a largemouth bass hanging from my rear view mirror. My wife said "it stinks" one day. That was around the time I joined the forum. (It still hangs there, though I doubt it smells anymore) Quote
Super User islandbass Posted July 28, 2017 Super User Posted July 28, 2017 (edited) I come from a tropical island and like to fish for bass. While I don't mind targeting other fish, bass have a special place in my heart that no other species can take, lol. Had a similar screen name on another site, islandtrucha, similar logic. Trucha is trout in Spanish, but I am neither Spanish nor hispanic, but for some odd reason, I know more Spanish (English first language) than either my mother's or father's native tongues. Rook Posted July 30, 2017 Posted July 30, 2017 I always had great respect for my great grandfather and I use his nickname on forums etc. His name was Thomas (Rook) Monday from the mountains of East Tennessee and he managed to make a fortune at a time around the turn of the 20th century when people were making pennies on the day doing manual labor. 1 Quote
