Largemouth21 Posted June 15, 2017 Posted June 15, 2017 I'm finally getting my first "good" bass setup, a 7" medium Veritas 2.0 spinning rod paired with a Daiwa Rg-ab 2500. I wanted to put 10 lb braid on it but since it is so thin, could the line get stuck in the roller? Quote
Super User fishnkamp Posted June 15, 2017 Super User Posted June 15, 2017 I usually run Berkley FireLine in 14 pound test which is the same diameter as 6 pound mono. That combo works very well. I like to save some money so ai fill the reel up half way with 12 to 14 Stren original Clear Blue mono and then fill it the rest of the way up with braid. I often run a 4 or 5 foot leader as well. 3 Quote
Super User OkobojiEagle Posted June 15, 2017 Super User Posted June 15, 2017 Is your name Murphy? I suppose anything is possible, but I've never had any 10lb PE line ever get caught in a line roller... or 4lb for that matter. oe Quote
Super User NHBull Posted June 15, 2017 Super User Posted June 15, 2017 10 is perfect for that application! 1 Quote
Super User Scott F Posted June 15, 2017 Super User Posted June 15, 2017 I use 10lb braid on all my spinning reels. I used to use 8lb and have never had line hang up a a line roller. You should not have any problems. 2 Quote
IndianaFinesse Posted June 15, 2017 Posted June 15, 2017 Nope, it won't get stuck underneath the line roller. I use braid as lite as 4 pound test on my spinning reels, and have never had this problem. 1 Quote

Nanofiliment is the line I use for the super lite (4-6lb.) stuff. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Berkley_Nanofil_Line_Low-Vis_Green/descpage-BNLV.html 1 Quote

I have a hard time casting 1/64-1/16 ounce crappie tubes on anything else, and it works fine for bass to. You would be surprised at how lite of line you can get away with, unless you're fishing around heavy cover. 2 Quote

Its been a very good reel so far have caught a 5 pound bass with it and many 3-4 pounders. 1 Quote

I was at cabelas and looking at the Pflueger President and Daiwa Revros but then I picked up the RG-AB just to check it out and I instantly liked it better than the others. 1 Quote
Super User fishballer06 Posted June 16, 2017 Super User Posted June 16, 2017 I just bought that same reel for my father a little while back. It's an awesome reel for the money. Highly recommend it. He is running 20lb. PowerPro braid on his without any issues. 1 Quote
Super User Darren. Posted June 16, 2017 Super User Posted June 16, 2017 It'll be fine. Never had any line get caught in the line roller. 1 Quote
