I'm finally getting my first "good" bass setup, a 7" medium Veritas 2.0 spinning rod paired with a Daiwa Rg-ab 2500. I wanted to put 10 lb braid on it but since it is so thin, could the line get stuck in the roller?

I usually run Berkley FireLine in 14 pound test which is the same diameter as 6 pound mono. That combo works very well. I like to save some money so ai fill the reel up half way with 12 to 14 Stren original Clear Blue mono and then fill it the rest of the way up with braid. I often run a 4 or 5 foot leader as well.

Is your name Murphy?  I suppose anything is possible, but I've never had any 10lb PE line ever get caught in a line roller... or 4lb for that matter.

I use 10lb braid on all my spinning reels. I used to use 8lb and have never had line hang up a a line roller.  You should not have any problems.

Nope, it won't get stuck underneath the line roller.  I use braid as lite as 4 pound test on my spinning reels, and have never had this problem.

Murphy? what does that have to do with anything lol, I read things about 10 lb braid getting stuck, I'm probably concerned about nothing...;)

(I didn't even know that they made 4 lb braid. That would cast far I bet... )

Yep, it casts a proverbial country mile.  Nanofiliment is the line I use for the super lite (4-6lb.) stuff.  http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Berkley_Nanofil_Line_Low-Vis_Green/descpage-BNLV.html

Dang!! is that used for bass or panfish or what

I mostly use it for finesse baits like the ned rig, 1/16 ounce Bucktails, etc. but also for throwing crappie jigs and what not.  I have a hard time casting 1/64-1/16 ounce crappie tubes on anything else, and it works fine for bass to.  You would be surprised at how lite of line you can get away with, unless you're fishing around heavy cover.

I have the RG-ab 2000:thumbsup: have used .006" 8# Nanofil & .005" 8# Nanobraid no issues at all.

Its been a very good reel so far have caught a 5 pound bass with it and many 3-4 pounders.

wow, I suppose if you play a fish right you can get it in on that incredibly light line.

yeah it's smooth and relatively inexpensive. I was at cabelas and looking at the Pflueger President and Daiwa Revros but then I picked up the RG-AB just to check it out and I instantly liked it better than the others.

I just bought that same reel for my father a little while back. It's an awesome reel for the money. Highly recommend it.

He is running 20lb. PowerPro braid on his without any issues.

Am Using 10lbs Sufix 832 Braided Line Ghost and it has been a pleasant experience for me on my St. Croix 6'8 LTB with Shimano CI4+ 2500
