Multi-purpose frogging rod

Hello folks. I want some input on a rod. I fish small-ish ponds out of a 12ft john boat with a trolling motor. Naturally, in a 12 footer, there is not exactly a supreme amount of space. I usually pick and choose 4 rods or so to take and that's what I bring. I would like something that I could use for topwater frogs, some flipping and punching, and jigs. I want to stay around the 100 dollar price point although a little more won't matter. The reel I would be putting on it is a daiwa tatula type r with 65 lb braid currently. May go lower so I can use jigs though. What are your thoughts?

A multipurpose favorite for those is the xf dobyns 735.  Only used the champion so I don't know how the other lines compare.

X2 I love my dobyns fury 735.  I bought it for froggin but I've used it for lots of things.  The soft tip makes it more versatile.  If I'm gonna beat a bank and carry one rod that's the one I carry.

Love my lews tp1 speed sticks. Either the 7ft mh or 7'3h are my favorites for what you listed. The winn grips are nice.

I have to say go with the Dobyns Fury 735C.  My wife's frog rod is a Dobyns Sierra SA705Sf a 7 foot heavy spinning rod and it plays almost exactly as my Dobyns Champion XP rod. That rod is a DC705C and it plays great for frogging and big jigs.

The Fury series cost $110 but fishes like a much more expensive rod in other brands.

Gary suggests using the FR735C for frogs, flipping, pitching, small swimbaits, big jigs and carolina rigs.. That qualifies as versatile.

 

The only other rod I would suggest is from Irod. They make a Genesis II Fred's Magic stick.

 It is a model IRG 754C.  I know some anglers using it, it fishes very well but it is 7'5". It might be more than what you want in your boat.

I really like my first gen St. Croix Mojo Bass for-n-slop rod for these purposes. The gen 2 version is longer and is made with a bit more tip and a lighter, more sensitive blank. I think it'd be a good rod for you, especially since it's only slightly above your price range.

Definitely sounds like you need the Dobyn's Fury 735, one of the most versatile rods out there.
