lenogris Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 Looking to find a sturdy wack jig head. I have used the VMC wack jig heads and the bass pro ones. I have had both of them bend out on large fish and on some brush. I am looking for something like the superline hooks but with a light weight on it. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm thinking about just buying some hooks and using split shot on the shank for the weight and then just tying my own weed guards on. 1 Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted June 13, 2017 Super User Posted June 13, 2017 http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Revenge_Flippin_Wackers_3pk/descpage-RFWH.html I reserve the VMC or other light wire wacky jigs for M or ML spinning gear only. 3 Quote
beardown34 Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 Agree with the revenge Flippin Wacky jigs. Wonder if they will ever make a 1/32oz Quote
CTBassin860 Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 Am I the only one that doesn't use wacky jigs? Quote
lenogris Posted June 13, 2017 Author Posted June 13, 2017 gotta have a little weight with the zman stuff. Quote
JG233 Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 They're pricey, but I fish these: http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Gamakatsu_G-Finesse_Series_Wacky_Jig_Head_3pk/descpage-SJW.html And always get a great hookset pinned to the corner of the mouth. 2 Quote
lenogris Posted June 13, 2017 Author Posted June 13, 2017 I looked at those G-Finesse ones, they looked good. Id like to see one in person but I may get a pack to try out. What weights do you use? Quote
IgotWood Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 I use the Gamakatsu G-Finess. Awesome hooks...strong, wide gap, slender weight design, and the weed guard works well without inhibiting the hook-up ratio. They're a little expensive, but well worth it. Also, I saw a guy fishing a plain old EWG hook with a pegged bullet weight, and he caught plenty of fish. So your idea of choosing a hook and tying your own weed guard may work out well for you. 1 Quote
JG233 Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 It's a 1/0 hook and I fish the 1/8 most of the time. Most of the water I fish is less than 10 ft deep. So that's perfect for me. 1 Quote
Super User NHBull Posted June 13, 2017 Super User Posted June 13, 2017 Some baits do well with weights and others don't need them A GY 4 inch would do as well as weightless, while other 5" might. Quote
Hogsticker Posted June 14, 2017 Posted June 14, 2017 http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Big_Bite_Baits_Gamakatsu_Wacky_Head_5pk/descpage-BBBWKHD.html These have the stoutest hook, but it's fairly big. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Vike_Tungsten_Wacky_Jig_Heads_2pk/descpage-VIKETWJ.html http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Zappu_Inchi_Wacky_Head/descpage-ZIW.html I use both of these most of my time out. Haven't had a hook bend yet. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Zappu_Inchi_Wacky_Head/descpage-ZIW.html I think these may be your best bet. I have yet to try them. Comes in a weed guard version too. 1 Quote
