Wingman87 Posted June 11, 2017 Posted June 11, 2017 Sorry if this has already been discussed but couldn't find anything about it. With icast coming up I've heard rumors about shimano releasing some new reels to replace the current curado and possibly others, I know the chronarch Mgl just came out so I doubt there will be a new one. I'm a tackle freak so my question is should I scoop up a curado i now before they're gone (because we all know what happens to the price of shimanos that are no longer available)? Quote
Jon G Posted June 11, 2017 Posted June 11, 2017 200 I's are going on sale so I imagine that they are getting ready to release a new one. I haven't heard anything but I have a feeling it is going to be a new Curado with the MGL spool. You can get a Curado I NIB on eBay for $130 Quote

I actually like the 70 over the 200 and think it is built a little better so you might want to look at that if you want to try one of the newer curados 1 Quote

bigfruits Posted June 11, 2017 Posted June 11, 2017 get the 70 curado. if its like the scorpion, its a bad ass reel. casts better than my old Curado 51, Aldebaran '09 and Core 51. palms better than the Aldebaran '16 in my hands (although not smaller). holds as much line as my Mets. then when the 2018 comes out get that too. Super User QUAKEnSHAKE Posted June 11, 2017 Super User Posted June 11, 2017 Another here saying go for the 70. The 70 is a big improvement on the 200 braking system. I had a 70 and then bought a Chronarch MGL had an issue and instead of exchanging for another MGL went with another 70 cause the 70 was nearly identical to the MGL casting performance. The 70 can be bought for $145 or so at places. Quote

I agree, I just picked up a 16 scorpion 71 and it's very very close to being as nice as my metanium. Quote
