Sheldon Collins is a young guy that's lived on and fished the lake his entire life, won a lot of tournaments on the lake. He just started guiding but he knows the lake really well.

Any thing around Monkey island is good. The Elk arm is where Evers wore them out last year for the classic. but be careful getting in there the sunken bridge can sneak up on you. If the waters up in there flip bushes! Courthouse hollow directly East of Monkey is where i always start. then to the next cove south of that on the same side of the is always good too. If you go put in around Grove you really cant go wrong. 7+ inch worms and big jigs. and throw a wacky rig around the back of all the docks. Now that I've typed this all out i hope your trip isn't over. good luck.

No we are planning on going in the next couple weeks. Thank you for all the great information. We will be staying Around Monkey Island and plan on launching from Grove so this perfect.

Are the whites better to try and catch in the morning or evening? Do you know if there are any good spots to bank fish after our guided trip? I have read about Bernice bridge being good?

It has been postponed due to some health issues that came up. Still hoping to go this fall. Are you looking to go?

Yes. I am heading down to Grand over Labor Day weekend. Hoping the recreational water traffic is bearable. I haven't ever fished Grand for bass and am pretty new to targeting bass in general. I was hoping for some sort of fishing report ;).

We are probably going to put it in at the Wolf Creek ramp, work the East part of that branch in search of a morning topwater bite, then try to hit some points and roadbeds on our way up to sailboat bridge, then once the sun gets high, work our way back to the ramp flipping docks on the South shoreline.

Towards that end of the lake I've always done well around Shangri-La, Honey Creek, Courthouse Hollow, and Woodward Hollow. Last time I was there they ate a popper good until the sun got high and boat traffic picked up, then we did really good dragging 10" worms on swinging football heads. Also caught some good ones skipping wacky rigs under dock walkways and cables but none in the stalls.

Hmm I've heard good things about Honey Creek but I am confused as to where that is actually located on the lake. I think I was getting it confused with 'Honey Creek Outdoors' which is actually near the Wolf Creek ramp.

I think putting in at Shangri-La and working toward the Honey Creek ramp (or vice-versa) might be a better option.

I am really new to offshore fishing, so I am hoping that the fish aren't all deep, that way if we totally strike out trying offshore we can at least get our rods bent on/around docks and/or willows.

Honey Creek is the big arm straight east of Shangri-La, south of Grove.

Fished Grand on Sept 3rd. Caught 6 LMB between two of us. Biggest was 1 lb 4 oz.

Flipped docks, hit points  and tried to fish Bluff walls.  Water champ first thing in the morning was 80° and buy the heat of the day was 85°. It was a long tough day of fishing.
