10 Lbs Braid line Safe for Wacky Setup: Sufix 832 Ghost

Hey Guys - 

 

Been using Tuf-line for my braid line (White 15 lbs) for a while .

 

Just recicerv the package from tacklewarehouse and its so thin. I just put on sufix 832 Ghost on my LTB with Stratic 2500 CI4+.  Not only that, I just hooked up a bass today which was in 1.5 lbs range while doing shore fishing (90% of the time)

 

I'm thinking that this would be good as long there is not much heavy cover and mostly grass area. 

How do you guys handle those light 10 lbs line in tournaments ?

Depending on how much rock or brush,i will tie on a leader of actual floro leader material.

The reel drag,will be set lighter. If i need more drag its done by finger pressure. I always keep steady pressure,and take my time.

I use 10lb on a wacky rig all the time. I treat it the same as any other line.

A quality 10 pound braid (not kanzen) will hold to 15 pounds or so. Ive dragged in some huge weed piles with 10 pound braid. Ive fished spro frogs with 10 pound braid on baitcaster in this area.

The 10# test will probably handle most of your fishing requirements, fishing from shore. I would suggest using a 4' - 5' fluorocarbon leader though. You need it for the abrasion resistance as well as shock absorbing quality of this kind of line.

Yup, 10# braid will handle just fine. My PB came in with a

couple extra pounds of salad (she was 7 1/2) on 10# braid

with a 10# leader. No problems, mate. Stronger stuff than

most think.

Just wanted to make sure since I have spooled it up with Yo-Zuri Hybrid 8 lbs line for 5 to 6 feet leader. 

When I attend a tournament event, Ill change the leader to Seaguar Red Label FC at 10 lbs to play safe.

It'll cast a mile and handle beautifully.   Most of the time.

Two things to watch, other than drag/breakage; three, if you got mossy, dark green;

1 - Be especially careful with your leader knot; small and tight; trim those tags as close as possible.  It doesn't take much wind for that wispy thread to catch on itself at the knot/tags.  If it does, you're in for some of the craziest knots you've ever seen.

2 - That same breeze can wreak some havoc when you get any slack around your rod tip; say, when setting the hook on nothing; that thread will come back at you and start knotting itself around your guides so fast, it'll make your head spin.

3 - Dark colored 10# braid is the closest thing to invisible in most conditions...I can't even find my line some days, much less actually watch it

Exactly why I went with white lines. I'm a line watcher and its difficult for me during the cloudy days with green. I admit, I would pick "pink" line. I might do that for the thrill of it

I have 10lb 832 on one spinning rod and 20 on the other.  The size difference between the two is almost nothing.  Neither has ever let me down and i have set the hook with the bass flying over the boat with one pound fish more than a few times with the 20.  If your using a 3 power or less spinning rod i think you should be good to go.  I would not frog with it but thats just me.
