Quarry Man Posted June 5, 2017 Posted June 5, 2017 I am currently getting ready for a tournament on June 18th. I am looking to spool good braid on my 3 spinning reels. I like PowerPro, which I can get at Dick's Sporting Goods. I currently have a 1500 size reel with 75-100 yards of 20 lb braid. It is rated for 100/6 (mono). It is a white reel. I have a Stradic ci4+ that is a 3000 size rated for 8/150 (mono). I use the 1500 on a 7' M with single hooks. That is why I want 15-20 lb white Powerpro. I want to put half a 300 yd spoil of 10 lb red braid on the Stradic. Will be used with a ml. My third reel will get extra or leftover line. Quote
Super User Darren. Posted June 5, 2017 Super User Posted June 5, 2017 Is there a question in your comment? Are you looking for thoughts on white and red braid? I've never used white PP, but I've used white Fireline. The color is fine if you're looking for aesthetics. However, as for red PP, I had it bleed all over my reels years ago, so I've not looked back. I use yellow on all of them now... 6 Quote
Super User Team9nine Posted June 5, 2017 Super User Posted June 5, 2017 Sounds like a plan...because it's not about winning or losing, but whether you look good competing the fish could care less what color you have spooled on. 7 Quote
Super User Further North Posted June 5, 2017 Super User Posted June 5, 2017 Yeah...if you're picking your braid to makes sure it matched your reel...I'm not sure what to tell you. Fish don't care, other fishermen don't care. Pick your line based on performance and what you like...not color matching your reels... 3 Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted June 5, 2017 Super User Posted June 5, 2017 I like everything to match or contrast. I care even if the fish don't. Black is another option you might consider. bigturtle Posted June 5, 2017 Posted June 5, 2017 why dont you just get green? I didnt even know matching line and reel color was a thing 5 Quote
Super User the reel ess Posted June 5, 2017 Super User Posted June 5, 2017 Any color braid is good as long as it's green. 2 Quote
Super User NHBull Posted June 5, 2017 Super User Posted June 5, 2017 Go with low vis green.......this way, if you choose to go without leader, your in a better position 2 Quote

Yeah, i just forgot to ask the question. I would like for my stuff to match, but it is not the biggest factor. Ive "red" that red braid disappears earlier in the water column, but i would expect it to have good visibility in situations that I watch the line for strikes. This is half of my fishing, when i skip docks or fish quarries. the other 1/4 i sight fish and with the bass eat the bait. that doesn't matter with line color obviously. the other remaining 1.4 is feeling the bite in deeper water, where color is not important. I need new line, so why not make it look good too? 1 Quote
Super User MassYak85 Posted June 5, 2017 Super User Posted June 5, 2017 I fish either yellow or green braid. If I'm going straight braid it's always green. I use yellow for line watching but always with a leader. 1 Quote

I always use a leader. currently use a 6 lb invisx leader, 8 lb invisx leader, or 10 lb cxx leader. will likely try tatsu in 8 and 10 lbs around christmas time next season. Quote

I'm all for making a combo look good If I didn't need to see the line better (hence yellow), red would sure look good on my CI4+. 1 Quote
Super User WRB Posted June 5, 2017 Super User Posted June 5, 2017 Get the brightest color line you can find so the bass can follow it down to the lure? Tom 10 Quote

bigturtle Posted June 5, 2017 Posted June 5, 2017 Ya, get a bright red line. Mimics a blood trail. Its flowing the wrong way but bass arent smart enough to figure that out 2 Quote

No way the fish can miss it. Quote

Super User Boomstick Posted June 6, 2017 Super User Posted June 6, 2017 I say get the brightest, most gaudy colored line you can. Maybe if you fish near a leaking nuclear power plant, you can make it turn radioactive and get a nice, healthy green glow. I hear bass love that! Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted June 6, 2017 Global Moderator Posted June 6, 2017 I fish bright pink braid because I can see it easier. Red PP fades really quickly so you end up with white line anyways, might as well buy white. 1 Quote

SFL BassHunter Posted June 6, 2017 Posted June 6, 2017 If you are going to be using a leader who cares what color line you get? Heck make it match. Make it visible so you can see it. Quote

Super User J Francho Posted June 6, 2017 Super User Posted June 6, 2017 I'm on board with the bright pink KastKing braid as well. Quote
jr231 Posted June 6, 2017 Posted June 6, 2017 I caught my PB using 20lb white braid.. none of it seems to make much a difference. I wish power pro was a sponsor so the mods would pimp them out Quote
