I know, I know I'm cranky and old, but when I buy a new to me piece of technology I need a user manual with clear instructions of how to use the d@mn thing.  1/4 of the features are assumed I already know, 1/4 of the features aren't as shown in the manual and often no hard copy of a manual is even sent with the product at all!  And my wife can't understand why I won't give up my flip phone.  Geeesh!

My son-in-law is an engineer. If I need a manual I'll wait for him to put it together next time he is in town.

What manuals are you looking for?

No self respecting male needs a manual, just keep pushing buttons until it does what you want it to do.

User manual for what boat, outboard, tm, sonar ?

I'm learning the features of a new GPS mapping/sonar.  The new unit is replacing a grey scale unit if that tells you how far behind the technology curve I am.  I've resorted to watching You-tube videos about my unit/ similar units and watching/ re-watching what buttons the guys are pushing to do what I'm trying to accomplish.  Even these videos aren't explaining what they are doing, they just do it to show you the end result.  I bought a new trolling motor earlier this year and have been suffering through that learning curve as well.  Too much new technology at one time!

On a more positive note... the smallies are still slamming my "old school" grubs and spinnerbaits!

Anymore, the best information comes from the internet and YouTube.  I swear there's a YouTube "how to" video on just about anything.  I wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't one on how to self perform brain surgery.  :P

Which is still useless if they are the same as the one that came with the product, as in my case.  I've been going through this with the camping trailer we bought last year.  They try to save money by publishing this generic manual that is so broadly generalized in its information that it has very little that is really helpful.  For almost every topic they include the disclaimer "if equipped".  Then they change the design of some system (in my case the plumbing for water heater) halfway through the model year, but don't change the manual.  If it wasn't for internet RV forums, I'd have really had a hard time trying to winterize this thing.
