On vacation in Vietnam and passed a fishing shop on the streets. Mostly cheap telescopic rods, but managed to find two nice looking bass rods, however they were both from companies I couldn't find on the web. Although typically not a good sign, for 30$ I figured why not.(650,000 Vietnamese dong!) Anyway, the guides and reel seat are actually very nice, much nicer than many of the budget rods I usually see. Only problem I have is it's only a 5'10". Considering going with a Kastking Spartacus to try them out, been debating buying one of them for a long time. For those of you who have used kastking before should I get the Spartacus or go with something else from kastking? This combo is going to be a budget setup I can bang around from the bank. Also, how does 20 lb braid sound?

Don't know anything about Kastking, but 20# braid on a spinning combo will do you well for almost all conditions from the bank on a pond

I like my Kastking Stealth. You will also find positive reviews in this forum for the assassin, royale legend and speed demon.

If the spartacus is anything like them it should be great for what you have planned.

20 lb braid is not normally recommended on casting gear.  If you are a seasoned BC user you can get away with it.  If you're not, it isn't wise.

This is a casting rod.

Opps Sorry..

Thats what I get for trying to help and not understanding the question correctly.  ?

In that case 30# would be fine

I just bought two Spartacus reels over the weekend. I like them so far. They cast well and has nice drag. In some spots on the frame, the plastic feels a little thin, but does not seem to flex. Decent reel for the price. The difference in the Spartacus reel vs Assassin seems to be the carbon handle and the ported spool.
