Lukie Posted June 3, 2017 Posted June 3, 2017 I was wondering what would be a good action and height for a soft plastic buzz frog Quote
Clinton john Posted June 3, 2017 Posted June 3, 2017 Not sure, I know a normal frog rod like what I use with my ribbet frogs is 7'3" and heavy action with a fast tip with 40# PP. If I had to guess I would try to find a spinning rod built like this and pair with a spinning reel that has a high drag setting and high gear ratio as well. Quote
Super User Darren. Posted June 3, 2017 Super User Posted June 3, 2017 Welcome aboard! Probably go with a MHF rod, length is your call. I do not fish a buzz frog, so can't really offer more. Quote
jr231 Posted June 3, 2017 Posted June 3, 2017 I have a 6 foot medium heavy spooled with braid that is perfect for small frogs. Hollow body or soft plastic. 1 Quote
Super User MIbassyaker Posted June 4, 2017 Super User Posted June 4, 2017 As of last year, I use a baitcaster for this, but before then, I used a 7' MH Fast spinnign rod with a 35 pflueger supreme reel (12# max drag, 33.8 " retrieve rate), and 30lb power pro braid for plastic toads and hollow-bodied frogs, and it worked well enough. budgetbassin Posted June 5, 2017 Posted June 5, 2017 I caught this one on a 6'6" medium with 20 lb braid on a Stanley Ribbet. 1 Quote
