mooneyes Posted June 3, 2017 Posted June 3, 2017 So I was thinking about all the discussions based around rod power and action and how hard it is to describe this without comparing it to another rod that most anglers are familiar with. With that in mind I started wondering about what everyone's thoughts were about what is the "Poster Child" or standard for MH F rods. What one rod best fits this designation as a baseline for all others to be compared to. Maybe length is a consideration in this, so lets keep is narrowed down to rods right around 7' or so. Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted June 3, 2017 Posted June 3, 2017 Which of us is the arbiter of this? Until CCS or another definitive system is adopted by the industry there can be no standard barer or poster child. 1 Quote

I am only interested in each persons opinion, not trying to fix world hunger, just looking to see if there is any type of consensus. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted June 3, 2017 Super User Posted June 3, 2017 Although G. Loomis rates the MBR844C as Heavy Power, I think this is the classic MH and could be the Poster Child you are looking for. http://www.gloomis.com/content/g-loomis/us/en/home/conventional/rods1/bass/classic-bass/CLASSIC_MAG_BASS.html Quote

This is the correct answer, but dont hold your breath waiting for any manufacturers to jump on this bandwagon. Having said that, I regard the classic G Loomis ratings as a defacto standard. MH = 1/4 - 3/4oz lure weight and 10 - 17lb line weight. Quote
DaveT63 Posted June 3, 2017 Posted June 3, 2017 I agree with the G Loomis responses. Specifically, The MBR843C, in whichever series you prefer. Quote
