Big Swimbait Posted June 3, 2017 Posted June 3, 2017 Has anyone tried the new JigSkinz? I'm tempted to buy some swimbait bodies to experiment. http://www.lurepartsonline.com/Online-Store/Hot-New-Items/ProSkin-JigSkinz.html Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted June 3, 2017 Global Moderator Posted June 3, 2017 I haven't but I'm very intrigued by them as well, especially since I started reusing old plastics to pour swimbaits. Would be a cool way to get a more realistic finish and still be way cheaper than buying store bought ones. 1 Quote
Super User Angry John Posted July 2, 2017 Super User Posted July 2, 2017 I stumbled onto one of the jigskin videos on Facebook and can't believe there is not more on here about this. One search hit. Is this not a thing???? I checked out the price of custom painted baits and this seems like a great idea. Maybe I will take a hit for the team and share my experence. 2 Quote

Got a few I would like to do so very intrested in the result. Also understand that they will not be that durable are you going to epoxy??? Quote

Dave A Posted July 27, 2017 Posted July 27, 2017 I tried them today and here is my feedback: Neat concept, good looking designs. Here are the watchouts: There is a minimum shrink to the material as expected. What was not expected is the rough ends that result at the cutlines. Seems like it will be fairly durable, but only time will tell. THe water must be boiling or the shrink will not occur or be partial.. Partial shrunk skin will fully shrink once subjected to boiling water. It will only partially shrink around lips, so if you bait has a lip you need to stay behind it. 3 Quote
Big Swimbait Posted August 12, 2017 Author Posted August 12, 2017 I just tried the Shiner pattern on a Wopper Plopper blank. Very easy & looks awesome. Now for the durability test! 2 Quote
Looch Posted August 13, 2017 Posted August 13, 2017 sort of like those things you decorate easter eggs with Quote
Super User Gundog Posted August 13, 2017 Super User Posted August 13, 2017 Looks like something I would like for some of my cranks and jerkbaits. Especially since every time I go to the local bait&tackle they are sold out of perch colored jerkbaits. 1 Quote
Comfortably Numb Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 Looks good but limited to the shape of the bait. Meaning more cylindrical shapes Quote

Meaning more cylindrical shapes The XL size with cover 9" long X 5 1/8'' tall. Take the 1/8" off for a bottom hook hanger so 5" would cover a lot of the big shad baits. The length doesn't shrink, only the circumference. Quote
Bulletman20XD Posted August 24, 2017 Posted August 24, 2017 Cool----May have to give some a try. Looks like cutting them long and then trimming with a razor after shrinking would be key to a better fit. Quote

I had to trim about 1/16th to fit it perfect to the nose. I just bought some of the BIG jointed bait blanks from Avid Bass Tackle. Playing wrap man this weekend. Quote
