Super User tcbass Posted June 2, 2017 Super User Posted June 2, 2017 Largest bass caught in Texas lake using McDonald's chicken McNugget FoxNews.com Published June 1, 2017 A couple got a "Mc-nificent" catch when they reeled in a record-breaking bass last month at a Texas lake by using a McDonald's chicken McNugget as their bait. Matthew McNellis and his girlfriend went fishing in May at Lake Bardwell in Ennis and had no luck catching anything, McNellis told KDAF. McNellis' girlfriend then suggested using a chicken nugget they bought from McDonald's as bait. To their surprise, they reeled in a 2-and-a-half-foot long bass that weighed more than 10 pounds. Quote
CroakHunter Posted June 2, 2017 Posted June 2, 2017 It was a 30 inch fish? Nah try 24.5 inches. Old news. Quote
Super User king fisher Posted June 2, 2017 Super User Posted June 2, 2017 I Saw a video on U Tube of some kids wacky rigging gummy worms catching more bass than when they fished with soft plastics. Not going to sell my tackle yet, but maybe I should Quote
Super User J Francho Posted June 2, 2017 Super User Posted June 2, 2017 This is the 3rd thread posted about this.... Typical sensationalist journalism at best. 10 lb. bass doesn't hit the radar in Texas. The requirement for their Share-A-Lunker program is 13 lbs. 1 Quote

Not going to sell my tackle yet, but maybe I should I T-rigged a generic sour gummy worm that was about 3" long at my buddy's pond just to prove I could catch something on it. I got a bite the first cast and caught one on the second cast. The worm was too dense and inflexible to be practical though. I took it off and replaced with a finesse worm after the first fish. the the rest of them I had in a sandwich back melted together. I also made a lure I call the "Wrench Wrig" out of a wrench after watching a YouTube video about it. I keep forgetting to try it. I thought I might even put a gummy worm trailer on the Wrench Wrig hook. Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted June 2, 2017 BassResource.com Administrator Posted June 2, 2017 To be sure, there are times when bass will hit anything. But we all know that's few and far between. But on private ponds, it seems bass will hit a paper clip, especially on professionally managed ponds such as the Kingfisher Society. It makes average anglers look like rock stars. Quote
Super User buzzed bait Posted June 2, 2017 Super User Posted June 2, 2017 to be fair, this one was caught on a public lake, not a private managed pond. 1 Quote

Looking for the big one Posted June 3, 2017 Posted June 3, 2017 I believe it was caught at a marina/bait station where bass are practically trained to eat what gets throw in. Quote
Super User Raul Posted June 3, 2017 Super User Posted June 3, 2017 Caught a 5 pounder with a tortilla chunk once ....... you don't see me trying to catch bass with tortilla chunks. Quote
Super User kickerfish1 Posted June 3, 2017 Super User Posted June 3, 2017 Fat "things" will always love their McDonalds. No holding this fish back Quote
