Bassin_PA Posted June 1, 2017 Posted June 1, 2017 Hey everyone. New member from PA. Hoping to find some new fishing buddies or some new locales to fish. Been fishing for about 28 years. Im a avid Salt Water fisherman with some very large catches over the past years, nothing record breaking but some amazing fish. Quote
Landis Carrier Posted June 1, 2017 Posted June 1, 2017 Welcome. Where do you live? I complain all the time about the total lack of public fishing lakes and streams in Northeast Pa. Quote
Bassin_PA Posted June 1, 2017 Author Posted June 1, 2017 I live in a little town called Jermyn. Its Between Carbondale and Scranton and North of Eynon where burlington coat factory is. And yes PA is crap for Bass Fishing. Trying to get my local DCNR officer to come investigate the amount of illegal fish being taken every day. Quote

Bassin_PA Posted June 2, 2017 Author Posted June 2, 2017 Thanx folks. And looks like today is another day that I wont be fishing. Terribly windy and has a bit of a chill up by way. Quote

Great bass fishing and small enough that you can get a kayak or canoe out on it easy. Some good bass have been pulled out of there. Prompton dam is up that way too. I've never fished it but heard its good. Quote
lonnie g Posted June 6, 2017 Posted June 6, 2017 welcome here ,if you fish for it ,there is someone here to discuss it with. Quote

Yes, a lot of medium and small lakes are heavily pressured and tricky, but the Susquehanna is incredible. 1 Quote

But ive heard many people state that if you dont have a boat the susquehanna isnt a very good spot. Because unless you can get to a good spot youre fighting the current and find the fish. Quote
gall Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 See I got a large number of great fish in this state and I wade the susky and have no issues but also a lot of the creeks hold hefty smallmouth and once you catch a smallmouth you're hooked 98% of my fishing is for the brown bass Quote
Bassin_PA Posted June 13, 2017 Author Posted June 13, 2017 Yeah ive heard small mouth are a nice little fight. Ive only get caught tiny small mouth bass. Quote

During the summer and fall much of the river is fished very easily from a kayak or via wet wading. I might suggest picking up at least a kayak before writing things off. You seem in a hurry to turn everything negative, man. I mean no offense by this, but the problem may not so much be the water, the fish, the state, etc. but rather you just taking a negative attitude. As for current, if you want to be successful, you learn how to fish it, like anything else. 1 Quote

And unless im gonna fork out over $1000 for a "big and tall" kayak. Im looking into getting a tracker boat for the river. Quote

I've been catching smallies nothing to brag about yet. Not in any rush for it but I'm always ready for October. Quote
