Kevin_Parker10 Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 Early in the morning I got the kayak ready and fished the Silver Lake Marina for largemouth until the sunrise was peeking over the buildings. I got one bite in the marina and it was just a nudge. After switching from a crank-bait to a spinner I got nothing no matter how I changed my technique. After some frustration I headed over to the dam where I noticed some other boats congregating and a couple smallmouth's were getting reeled in. I fished all across the dam with deep and shallow lures and didn't get a single thing, and finally had to pack things up and head to work. Any tips on simply locating fish in this lake? I noticed many carp breaching on the baitfish like crazy almost the entire morning, but only saw one or two bass surfacing in the whole trip... -Kevin Quote
MO_LMB Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 When the fish don't seem to be biting moving lures well, I always try to slow down and fish some main lake structure with bottom baits. Jig, Tube, Shakey Head worm. Try to feel whats going on on the bottom with the lure. Each cast should take you a minute or two to reel in. I just move the bait with my rod and pull it along, maybe hopping every once in a while. Find a point or hump or something, with a little wind moving over it, and fish slowly on the bottom. Should be able to pick up a couple that way on any lake. Just glancing at Navionics, I'd try these spots. 1 Quote
Kevin_Parker10 Posted June 1, 2017 Author Posted June 1, 2017 Thanks so much for the advice, I will definitely try some of those spots and slow down the fishing a bit. Im planning on practicing finesse fishing in some local ponds. Quote
