BassManSweens Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 Hey everybody! I'm gonna be down in Plantation Florida for about a week and a half at the end of June. I noticed where I'm staying is surrounded by small Florida canals. I'm wondering how good the canals are in Florida for fishing. Which fish are the most common? What to catch em with? And how to use the bass gear for June? Help would be greatly appreciated thanks Quote
Super User geo g Posted May 31, 2017 Super User Posted May 31, 2017 The canals are loaded with bass, peacock, and other exotics. The problem with the canals are there is often no access. Don't forget to try Heritage Park in Plantation. It has bass in it, I have fished it several times. Quote
Tyloo Posted June 23, 2017 Posted June 23, 2017 I'm from Plantation and pretty much every canal is loaded with bass. If you go down East Acre Blvd to the dead end theres a canal system that goes under a Florida Turnpike bridge that is absolutely LOADED with bass and snook. Quote
Gotfishyfingers? Posted June 24, 2017 Posted June 24, 2017 All the canals in the surrounding area hold bass as well as other fish. A simple texas-rigged bait should do the trick. blk/blue, purple, watermelon are all good colors. I wouldn't use unpainted bullets weights though. more bites with black. Also a little black and white rapala should get you some bites too.. Quote
Turf Posted June 27, 2017 Posted June 27, 2017 Agreed, live in the neighborhood Tyloo mentioned, fished it a few times with varying success. That specific area is ALL chewed up at the moment however with the new Sunrise / Turnpike ramps that they have/will be putting in over the next few years apparently. It's a mess honestly. Have seen much less activity there since they've started digging and stirring up the area. Quote
