I have a 1988 tracker tx17 w/35 hp merc. I recently took possession of a 24v 82lb motorguide. How much would the added weight of the new motor and extra battery slow me down? Is there any reason I shouldn't install it on my boat?

Thanks,

Brandon

As long as there is room for that extra battery go for it. fishing will be better with the upgrade. I just helped my father inlaw put a 24 volt tm on his 2005 tracker 175 there was enough room for an extra battery. the extra weight will not hurt you that bad. if it does hurt you in any way, the added power of that TM will out weigh it. The only thing I would do is run new wire for the TM,  6ga wire is a must

The benefits far outweight the risks here. Id go for it if you can
