I just bought a Shimano Calcutta 400B , I am a long time bait cast enthusiast and I used to have a Calcutta 200b. I am going to use this reel for medium sized tarpon an snook, using live and artificial bait. I will occasionally throw a bass lure on it but I already have a curado. Im not sure what size to get our how heavy the rod should be.

Thanks

My suggestion would be to look at 8' swimbait rods.

I have my 400B on an 8' XXH swimbait rod. It works well for the biggest swimbaits I will ever want to fish, and has also done well slinging A-rigs all day for stripers.
