Gotta Support my local Shop (www.anglersexpress)  -- @fishnkamp

I have narrow down to those two:

Powell MAX 3D 683 CEF MEDIUM HEAVY XF
Powell MAX 3D 723 CEF MEDIUM HEAVY XF

Since I have been going back and forth on this. I will be fishing mostly at the shoreline since I dont have a boat yet but I do go tournaments.  I'm thinking of the 6'8 for bottom contacts.  However, I have a  6'9 JB Custom Rod that I can use for the time being until I save up some dough for few more months to get high end rod like Legend Elite.

Save the dough that I would have used up: $120
Save 50 bucks for 6 months: $265
Have extra dough at $ 420

OR  SCREW IT - Just get the St.Croix Legend Elite (7'1" Medium Heavy X-Fast

Decisions, Decisions and Decisions .....

I think you have your heart set on a legend elite so I would just do it. I always wanted an nrx, but thought I'd never spend that much on a rod. So I bought some decent rods in the $200 range, but in the back of my mind I wondered about the nrx. Guess what? I have 3 nrx's now and I still have the other rods too, but I don't use them. I would've saved money if I just went with what I wanted in the first place.

If you are interested, we could met up and you could fish with my Max 683CEF.  It would give you a good feel for what a  Max3D 683CEF would feel like.

That rod is my favorite jig rod bar none. I throw a swim jig with a Kalin grub trailer on it most of the time.

If you decide that is not the rod you want,  take a serious look at a Dobyns Champion XP DC734C.

I have a Champ 705 that I use for frogging and could easily handle jigs and texas rigs if you would like to play with that one also. The 734 has a nicer transition between tip and backbone, but feels very similar in weight and balance.

We could meet up somewhere like  Centennial Lake in Columbia, it is a run for me,  but sorta on your way up to Anglers.

I bought mine through the tackle trap at a good discount and some used. I wouldn't pay retail.

I have seen those on tackletrap and it always confuse me:

"The Tackle Trap has acquired a nice selection of "Rep Samples" to offer our customers at a discounted rate. Most of these items are brand new and some have been opened to view at trade shows across the country, but rest assured, these are the real deal and are all in new condition. All rep samples sold by The Tackle Trap retain the original manufacturers warranty. We're excited to offer our customers the opportunity to acquire some of these items at a very nice discount. Due to the discounted rate, coupon codes do not apply to items in this category. "

But on GLOOMIS Website and 90 seconds calling GLoomis/Shimano.

If the rod is labeled DEMO or SAMPLE on the butt section of the rod, it does not have a warranty.

There isn't any demo or sample label on the rods. They are new rods and come with a warranty. Mine came with plastic on the cork, tag on guide and with the sleeve. The best way to order them is to call them directly or send them an email.

I have a Powell Endurance 723C and another rod in their 3D max line.  I feel like Powell kind of dropped the ball when they did away with the Endurance line of rods because I like the older reel seats better.  But, like it was mentioned up above, it seems like you have your heart set on the St. Croix.  Pull the trigger on that one and dont look back.

enjoy!

I have the Max 3D 683 and I absolutely love it for shoreline fishing. 80% of the time I fish shorelines and ponds, its the only rod I bring with me alot of times. The sensitivity is unreal and you can feel the bottom for those bottom contact lures like crazy. You can throw anything on  it. Its rated for 3/4 oz but Ive thrown 2 oz swimbaits fine. You cant go wrong with either of the two but the 6'8 would be better for shoreline fishing.

Get the rod you want so you don't have to worry about it. It sucks selling used rods. Trust me I know from experience. You lose your rear after shipping. Plus you won't be fully satisfied.

I have decided to take a little break on the "Rod Hunting"

Since I am planning to reach out to FishnKamp in the near future to test out the Powell Rod and see if that works for me.   Yeah, I hear you guys.... If I plan to get the high end ones,  plan to save the dough for it ..

Thanks guys for putting me in the right direction...
