Just curious what the opinions are for those of us who have or still do fish the Revos across multiple generations.  Which generation is your favorite, and why?

I've got 3 Gen 1 STX, 2 Gen 2 STX, a Gen 3 STX, 2 Gen 2 Premier and a Gen 1 Winch

Never had a desire for a Gen 3 after reading some of the remarks about this generation when they first came out.  Have read that many feel the Gen 2 models were the best.  I picked up a used Gen 2 Premier, but it still sits in the box.  I also picked up a used Gen 1 Premier that has seen very little use by me.  So far I am not as fond of it as I am my Gen 1 STX....which was my first Revo.  I like the Gen 1 STX a lot.  Excellent distance.  Handles a 10" ribbontail worm and 5/0 hook like a champ.  It is loaded with 40# braid and almost always makes the trip to Florida with me.  Would be nice to pick up a mint Gen 2 STX to compare it to.  :teeth:

I have 2 Gen 1 S models.  They are my reels for t-rigged plastics.

Gen 2s. I hate the Gen 3s. I own several high end Daiwas, Shimanos and a Gen 3 MGX. But my favorite reel of them all is a Gen 2 Premier with Boca bearings and a carbon handle and EVA knobs.

I have (3) Revo Gen 1 Premiers, love them the best. After a good cleaning love them even more.

My last Abu Garcia was a "Black Max"   :embarassed:

Have the Revo sx 2 and the Revo S 3 love them both. Would like to add the STX but haven't pulled the trigger just yet

I have a Gen 2 SX that I hated but learned to love, it's definitely a tank! I also have a Gen 3 Revo Elite Aurora 64. I like the finish better on the Gen 3 ( sample pic in avatar), but the Gen 2 was used 20000000% more and has given me more memories, it also feels more solid.

I had a bunch of Gen 1 SX and SC and aside from slightly finicky brakes I liked them. Very solid reel, never had any problems with them except on windy days.

I am curious to see how opinions may have changed and/or stayed the same in the last five years?  What are your thoughts?  Thanks and best wishes on the water!

I had a $100 Revo x for a few years .. never missed a beat and bomb casted like many of my other more expensive reels.. just more of Diawa guy with a few Shimano’s . I’ve have zero against Abu reels.

I had Toro Beast T2 and it was troublesome reel, Finally they took it from me and gave me a T3 and I am happy with it, I am using it for my giant bait and paired with 908 dobyns champion.

I think specific reels in the line up have done well and while others have not..... for example, I like the Gen. 2 STX but not the current one, the Revo Winch Gen. 4 is great but the older version felt weird, and the Revo Premier is a dealer's choice.  I have liked the ALX but do not have a reel to compare it to from the previous generations or the newer ALF.  I didn't really get the point of the MGX or the MGXtreme.  The SX line always gave me the "Why would I buy this reel instead of a Curado (or something else)?" vibe.  Not saying it's a bad reel but it felt underwhelming compared to several other reels at the same price point.  With the exception of the Revo Toro Beast, this is as far down the Abu Garcia rabbit hole I have gone.

I only used and still do the Revo X winch gen4 ?.  I purchased it because it was the only left handed 5 speed reel I could find in my price range. I read of people having the side plate pop off during use but I’ve never experienced that particular problem, could be a palming issue. I really enjoy the reel and would definitely recommend it at the $99.00 price point.

I still use a Gen. 1 Revo S quite a bit. The only other ones I tried were the Gen. 3 Revo S. I had two of them and they were garbage. I got rid of them and haven't bought anything with the Abu Garcia name on it since then.
