I'm really interested in buying a Crestliner Pt18 so I stopped at my local dealer Lewis Boats. I asked the salesman about installing Talons on the boat he said I couldn't because it would void the warranty on the hull. He said I would need a jack plate and a jack plate would void the warranty. This guy seemed very unhelpful. I know I've seen a few with talons and John Coxs has power poles. Does anybody have any info on mounting a pair of talons

Call Crestliner direct and ask them. He may be telling the truth but there is a lot of misinformation about hull/motor warrantys and whether or not a shallow water anchor will void them.

Minn kota also offers specialized brackets in the case that they cannot be mounted directly to the transom.

Though I do have a jackplate, I've read somewhere that a jackplate is not necessary,

but the motor still has to be unbuttoned (not sure what that means).
