Tony Albanese Posted May 24, 2017 Posted May 24, 2017 Hi guys,New here. I live in Illinois. Picking up a boat Saturday that I plan on modifying. I've been reading a lot about building casting decks and mounting a trolling motor. It seems pretty straight forward. However, I see you need a level area to mount the bow mount trolling motor. The boat I'm buying is a V-Hull, and if you see the front it has a slight angle. I am kind of puzzled on how I would level that out to make it suitable for a bow mount trolling motor. Any ideas? I have attached a few pics so you can see what I mean. Quote
Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted May 24, 2017 Global Moderator Posted May 24, 2017 Make a small mounting platform that is level. Quote
Tony Albanese Posted May 24, 2017 Author Posted May 24, 2017 How? Out of what? I've looked but can't find anything similar that has been done by others Quote
sully420 Posted May 25, 2017 Posted May 25, 2017 Use some wood blocking to level it out and some plywood over the top and mount it over that 1 Quote
Tony Albanese Posted May 25, 2017 Author Posted May 25, 2017 Would it be okay to shim the back end up with rubber washers? Quote
Super User S Hovanec Posted May 25, 2017 Super User Posted May 25, 2017 Basically, build a wedge to shim up the back Quote
RUSS9999 Posted May 25, 2017 Posted May 25, 2017 Long bolts and 1/2'' PVC Pipe cut to length for shims at the back Quote

Super User WRB Posted May 26, 2017 Super User Posted May 26, 2017 Use a canoe trolling motor mount like LL Bean for your bow mount. Tom Quote
