connorwallin Posted May 23, 2017 Posted May 23, 2017 How should I be categorizing my tackle. I have a few Plano 3600 boxes and one specifically for my terminal tackle. With the Plano boxes I currently have I have one specifically for senkos, one for swimbaits, and then another with all my lures. I'm guessing I should really get a box for each lure such as like a box just for frogs or a box just for spinnerbaits. This is my question, should I be having a box specifically for each lure or plastic? Would this make the most sense? Also if you have any boxes that I should have for baits that most use please let me know. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted May 23, 2017 Super User Posted May 23, 2017 Depends on how much room you have and how much weight you want to handle. If you have boat storage every lure type can have a home of its own. With a tackle bag you have to make some choices. I keep the bulk of my tackle in a Man Cave. Then I carry a Plano 3600 in my vehicle. The third is a smaller Plano for what I plan to fish on a given day. I have one box of jigs, one for soft plastics, one for hard lures and another for spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, underspins and the like. I keep terminal tackle in a compartment with the appropriate gear, i.e., hooks and weights with soft plastics. 1 Quote

blckshirt98 Posted May 23, 2017 Posted May 23, 2017 Welcome to the start of your doom! However you organize your tackle now just know that it'll get spread out in no time! Your crankbait box will eventually be split into deep diving crankbaits and squarebills; your squarebills will eventually be split into large and small squarebills; your small squarebills might be split into Strike King squarebills and all other brand squarebills; and so on and so on. Only thing I would suggest is keep your soft plastics in the original packaging and store/carry them around in ZipLoc freezer bags. Soft plastics can get messy and the colors can bleed into the Plano plastic. Carry a smaller Plano 3500 for terminal tackle, or set aside a few compartments in the larger 3600. Quote
Scarborough817 Posted May 23, 2017 Posted May 23, 2017 my way of categorizing is by what rod i fish it on or what kind of bait it is for example my box of topwater has my frogs, spooks, whopper plopper and poppers. all but the poppers are fished on one rod so they can be in the same box Quote
