BoilerFisherman Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 So, I have a family friend who just had skin cancer removed from his fore arm. Never really thought about this, but he blames sun burns from hours fishing in the summer. I have and use a buff already, but I am in search of some nicer fishing UV shirts, problem is, I am 6'5" 300 lbs. I need big and tall stuff, and I have struggled to find and definitive Big and Tall gear designed with fishermen/women in mind. Anyone have any ideas? Quote
HeavyTwenty Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 Are you looking specifically for "fishing shirts" or just looking to protect yourself from the sun? I've read that regular clothing protect you fine from UV radiation, as much as UPF rated clothing. http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/magazine/2015/05/testing-sun-protective-clothing/index.htm Quote
Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted May 22, 2017 Global Moderator Posted May 22, 2017 Huk makes their shirts up to 3x. Not sure if that'll work. I have 3 long sleeve, 1 short sleeve, and a swear shirt and I've been extremely happy with them all and the quality is great from my experience. Quote

I have seen the HUK brand and the 3x is big enough for the chest, but length tends to be a problem. maybe I will email them and ask if they can give me a measurement on that. Quote
Attila Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 I'm only 5'10" but weigh close to 300lbs so I feel your pain. I buy most of my gear directly from Bass Pro Shops so went over to their site and ran a search for their Big and Tall clothing. I know for certain that most of these shirts come with UV protection built in, and most of them have the option of rolling up the sleeve to become short sleeved shirts. I prefer keeping the sleeves down to give full protection to my arms. BoilerFisherman Posted May 22, 2017 Author Posted May 22, 2017 I just ordered a HUK shirt, they said they should be more than long enough, but I can easily return if it isn't. They look awesome, so I hope it fits as good as it looks. Quote
Super User Spankey Posted May 22, 2017 Super User Posted May 22, 2017 The Loomis shirts run big. I really wear a 2xl. Like to buy my stuff way too big so I tried on the 3xl. It was really big, could not be worn like that. Tried on the 2xl, was still large. The xl version fit true and was no way tight or binding. Went with the 2xl because I'm anal. The material won't shrink. Quote
