Next weekend i will finally be able to fish several of my lakes in the Pocono Mountains of PA. It will likely be rainy, after a warm week, but remain in the high 60's and lower 70's. I have 4 lakes to fish, one 60 acre lake by my house, that is not great, but i plan on using it to tell how far the bass are in the spawn. I will fish that lake for an hour around sunset, from the bank. I will then fish a 124 acre lake which is much better. lots of docks and lily pads. We will bank fish the marina docks from 9 - 12. We will wake up at 5:30 and launch our boat, traveling around the lake clockwise. We plan to fish topwater until 7:30. I will be throwing a spook, buzzbait, and diy bait that I'm about to explain. My buddy will be throwing a whopper plopper, which worked last year around this time. We will follow our short strikes up with a wacky rig. I recently broke the bill of my live target bluegill. Being an expensive lure, i kept it, but removed the bill completely. I now fish it as a topwater. Will this work? Also, do you recommend that we do the wacky rig follow up trick? Will the fish be on beds still? I plan on staying at lake two, but will move to a larger lake (3) or a reservoir/ reviver (4) if the rest fail to produce. What other suggestions do you have?

Not sure if the broken-billed lure will work. Guess you should give it a try. I keep a wacky rig ready for a follow up just in case I miss a top water bite. Its a good strategy. I haven't seen bass on beds in the lake I fish but that doesn't mean there are not going to be bass on beds at the lake you are going to fish. Most of the bites I've been getting are on deep rocks with a 1/4 ounce football head and a twin-tailed grub (Hula grub).
