Wild Idaho Posted May 21, 2017 Posted May 21, 2017 Fish with a lot of baitcaster for steelhead, salmon and bass. I currently use a shimano curado 200 hg and an abu garcia revo s bait caster on a couple of my bass rods. Never have a problem back lashing the revo. Something broke last year w the curado reel so I sent it into shimano over the winter and they shipped me a brand new one! I never had problems back lashing the curado before. I spooled the curado w seaguar 15lb fluorocarbon and my god what a mess... i have 12lb seagur fluorocarbon on the revo w no issues what so ever. I have adjusted the brakes and tweaked everything on the curado but just want to huck it in the lake....is it the 15lb flouro thats doing it? Used to love this reel... Quote
XpressJeff Posted May 21, 2017 Posted May 21, 2017 Many of the more experienced folks don't favor fluoridation on bait casters from I have read. Just think most would recommend using braid with a floor leader. While I am just a baby as far as experience around here braid is my favorite flavor. Just braid. Welcome to the forum and good luck! Kyhokie Posted May 21, 2017 Posted May 21, 2017 Have you tried line conditioner? That makes my flouro much more cast friendly. Quote
Ski213 Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 Has any line off the spool of seaguar been on any other reels or is it just on the Curado? I have had almost 0 problems with Seaguar. Invizx is one of my favorite FC lines. That said, I have had two 15# spools of it that I've had problems with. I have used a lot more than 2 spools with zero issues though. Definitely not trying to bash the line. One of them presented like what you're describing. Switch lines and see what happens. Quote
Wild Idaho Posted May 22, 2017 Author Posted May 22, 2017 I use kvd's line conditioner on all my reels. Brand new line on curado and my bait caster abu revo. On the revo i used seaguar FC but only 12lb and i have zero issues. Never had a prob with FC on my bait casters but maybe it was just a bad spool of line...? I will have to switch lines to see. Thanks for replies fellas! Happy fishing Quote
OnthePotomac Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 I have Invizx 15lb on both of my 200XG reels with no problem and use them for worms and other plastics. I ended up with two brakes on and one reel and set the outside dial to "2" and two brakes on the other reel required an outside dial to "3". Not sure about the Hg version, but I was surprised at how much pressure the cast control cap took tightening to stop back lashing. It fooled me because I thought it would drastically reduce the distance, but not so. So in the end, it ended up being the cast control cap tighter that solved my problem. Quote
