Caster maintenance (oil/grease etc)

Hey guys. 

Just picked up my first set of baitcasters! 

(3 total.. tatula ct 100xs 8:1:1, a tatula 103 sv tw 8:1:1 and a Revo rocket LP 9:1:1)

So I was hoping for some advice about what type/brands of lube (oil and grease) and cleaner that'd be good buys for all three reels? And possibly some tips... 

so far the 100xs seems smooth, but the sv tw clicks a bit right out of the box. I've heard they come bone dry. Haven't tested out the rocket yet.

No new reel should require anything right out of the box. Fish them hard for a season and deal with any warranty issues then have them deep cleaned

I wouldn't of thought so but several reviews have said the sv tw needed oil.

If any reel needed to be lubricated right out of the box,
I don't think that company would have much of a future.

Shaving weight and maintaining or lowering price points comes at a cost. These are fine reels but expectations on them especially in the smoothness department are sometimes unrealistic. I can say for certain if that's the case here without seeing it but something to keep in mind.

What products are universally good for all, ceramic, steel or aluminum? I was thinking quantum hot sauce oil/grease

Joy sauce grease is junk it gums up. The oil is ok but nothing special. Don't like the red dye stains. Any light oil will work on bearings. Seeing machine oil, R.E.M. Oil or 3in1 are readily available. Oust, yellow rocket fuel and boca lightning are good choices if you want to spend more. Tsi 321 301 is nice but pricy and more than you can use in a lifetime. Oiling ceramics is counter productive. If you don't like the sound stick with good ss

I can only address Shimano reels, but every Shimano I buy has too much oil in the spool bearings, so I clean them and lube with Yellow rocket Fuel and they are good to go.  I read where some insist that Shimano packs grease in the spool bearings at the factory, but that is not true.  Only heavily oiled.

I use Ballitsol oil and Super Lube grease.

Use in extreme moderation.

Found this article very helpful also. He makes a very strong arguement for TSI 321. Equally for just a paid technician. Sounded wise. Lol

Gotcha. Bearings in the sv tw are top notch SS CRBB. 

Sound somehow disappeared on its own the other day.

I use the same stuff I use to clean my guns: Rem oil/clp/balistol for oils and for grease I use otters choke tube grease
