Lures'n'Liberty Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 Told you guys I'd let you know, the 2 50 series Kast King Sharky baitfeeder reels that I ordered came in the other day and they're really more than I expected for the price. Both were shipped fast through amazon, one was an exceptionally good deal due to a slightly damaged box (I knew when I ordered it). The damaged box reel was flawless, while the brand new one kept losing the drag adjustment. I took the spool off, cleaned off a bit of the packing grease and gave it a few squirts of WD-40 before re assembly and it also worked perfectly after playing with the adjustments for a couple minutes. It felt like something wasn't seated properly and took a bit to get it to click. I also ordered a 60 series but was told it was out of stock . These are beefy reels with a smooth action. I mounted them on 8' heavy action rods that I bought at my favorite local discount bargain outlet store and spooled them with 40 lb Berkely Big Cat. They cast and reel pretty smooth, although my neighbors windows would likely suffer if I tried for distance. Will report more the next time I go chase flatheads. 2 Quote

I have a question about this reel I am hoping you can answer. Is this reel waterproof? I have the Sharky II spinning reel which is waterproof for up to 3 minutes if dunked in water. I wanted to know if they carried this feature over to the Sharky bait feeder line of reels. Thanks in advance for any response. Quote
BassGirl71 Posted May 20, 2017 Posted May 20, 2017 The Sharky Baitfeeder isn't actually waterproof. It's still a great reel, but not waterproof. I can totally see it handling those flatheads. Let me know how it performs next time you are out. 2 Quote
Lures'n'Liberty Posted May 22, 2017 Author Posted May 22, 2017 Took them out over the weekend. Went to line them up with 40 lb braid and discovered that the reel that snapped and clicked and began working smoothly actually broke and the spool no longer moves back and forth. Sent email to Eposideon, this thread will apparently also be a review of their customer service, as that reel is officially out of service. The one that worked, however, worked flawlessly for 3 casts before it started raining, mated to a South Bend Black Beauty 2 8' MH/Moderate rod ($6 score at Ollie's Bargain Outlet, worth every penny). No fish were harmed in the making of this review, as I didn't catch any Quote
Lures'n'Liberty Posted May 22, 2017 Author Posted May 22, 2017 Sent email to customer service Friday night, response came around noon thirty on Monday requesting order number, with which I promptly replied. Hoping next response will offer an immediate solution, Mitchell Advanta I'm using as a backup is a P.O.S., want to fish one evening this week. See Walmart has Shakespeare Tiger combos on sale for under $20, contemplating the purchase of 3 as backups/loaners, as my 3 current backups/loaners are on loan to Dad who took them to Florida and is using them in the Gulf of Mexico for the 3rd year in a row. Assumed reels were shot before he took them this year, as he stored them without rinsing the salt or telling me that he failed to do so last fall. Quote
Lures'n'Liberty Posted May 22, 2017 Author Posted May 22, 2017 Just responded to second response, this time from Eposeidon via Amazon offering to assist in return or replacement and offering a free gift as well. I like free stuff, this could be the beginning of a beautiful relationship. Quote
Lures'n'Liberty Posted May 23, 2017 Author Posted May 23, 2017 Woke up to an email that contained a prepaid shipping label and a return form to fill out. Will let you know more when my replacement arrives. Quote
Lures'n'Liberty Posted May 23, 2017 Author Posted May 23, 2017 Got another email today with a phone number. Spoke to a very nice lady (Rosalind) who was more than helpful in making sure that I got my return label and forms all figured out. Also requested my address so that she could send me a hat and some lures ASAP due to the inconvenience. So far, so good, it seems that this may be my best experience with a broken reel yet. After asking a few questions, she also confirmed that the Sharky Baitfeeder is, in fact, discontinued BUT the Sharky III and Sharky III Baitfeeder would be released to the market soon. 1 Quote

Neither can I, and to add to the update, I left early for work this morning and left the bad reel, all packed up and ready to drop off at the post office, right on my kitchen counter Quote
BassGirl71 Posted May 24, 2017 Posted May 24, 2017 Sharky III! Sounds like a purchase in my future! Glad you had a good experience with customer service. They have always been helpful when I've needed something, too - good to know there is a company out there that still cares about it's customers. 1 Quote
