Fish in Ponds?

There is so many ponds around my place and I've heard there is only catfish, bullhead, and other rough fish; but I have to belive there is bass in there. Is there a way to tell if there is fish in these ponds?

Just try with your highest percentage lures. I would suggest a small wacky rigged worm and a small crankbait. Hopefully you'll at least catch a small bass to clue you in on whether bass are present.

The water has to be deep enough to support bass and baitfish through the winter catfish and bullheads survive better in those conditions than bass. All you can do is fish then and see. You should be able to see bass from the bank right now so take a walk around and look they are shallow now thinking about spawning

watch for spawn. look for swirls as you walk the bank. and it don't cost nothing to try ,throw away! best of luck hope you find them.

Get your line wet. Fish something small 1st to see if there is any bass present. Beetle spin, curly tailed grub or 4" wacky rigged senko should tell you.

Many times I have written off small ponds thinking there is no way they will hold bass only to be proven completely wrong when somebody pulls out a lunker.  Living in Lancaster County, PA, we have so many farm ponds that I would have originally written off, but I am starting to get addicted to small pond fishing.  The best way to find out is to give it a shot and take the time to pick the pond apart with a variety of your hot lures.

Go out at sunup or sundown with a topwater.  Of the species you listed, bass will hit it on top.  I'll wager there's bass in them.

Most ponds have large Bass in them , well they do here in VA.
