I know that this story is somewhat old news for most people. But, I would like to point out that Gander Mountain will quit accepting gift cards on 5/18. only a couple days out.

If anyone here has any gift cards or knows anybody who has them, you better get them spent. Just hoping I can help someone out, don't want anyone to lose their money. here's a picture from their website.

10% off most items and no returns for defective items...not worth it...yet. I'd wait till the final days and you may find a deal you can't pass up.

I'd agree, you probably won't find any groundbreaking deals. But my post was to inform people that G.Mountain will stop accepting gift cards soon (18th). They will be of no value after that date, so if you own a gift card, you have no choice but to spend it.

doubt you'll see any screaming deals. the liquidators will get most of the store contents.

gander did this to themselves. sucks for the employees.

the higher ups should starve, but wont.

I was talking to an employee (also a friend of a friend) at Gander, he said that in the final weeks certain items are going up to 90% off. That might just be my location though, but it's something to keep in mind.

Those certain items that are 90% off at going out of business sales are always things I have no interest in.

Never hurts to look!  One of the Sport Chalets that closed down around here had a whole bunch of Roboworms that lasted until 90% off (I saw them the day before on 80% off day, but didn't grab them because I don't fish Roboworms and already have a bunch I'll never use).  I went back the next day when everything was 90% off and got a Lodge Cast Iron Cookbook, an Arctic Ice Pack, a Thule trailer hitch lock, and some scupper plugs.

Never hurts to look! I understand where you're coming from, usually it's all the stuff they couldn't get rid of which is usually not the best but there might be some diamonds in the rough

Oh I'll look, I just won't expect much.   Maybe some accessory for the boat, clothing, etc..   I know the last time I was in our local store the reel selection was really low and there weren't many rods.

I went over at lunch and looked.   Basically it's 10% off rods/reels, 15% off of lures and boating accessories, and 25% of fly fishing stuff.   I actually didn't buy anything, because the stuff is marked up anyway.   For example, $4.99 for a pack of Zoom worms that you can get for $3.79 at TW.    For the rods, 10% off of a nice St. Croix Avid is nothing to sneeze at, but I got basically 20% of a Tournament Pro at BassPro this spring with the trade-in offer.

If I needed something I would have gotten it, but since I do alot of buying in the winter/spring I'm really only going to buy anything that really is a deal, and I don't see it yet.

I been checking my local gander mountain every week and the deals aren't even worth it. All the fishing stuff was 10% off initially and now it's 15%. These discounts don't matter when the price is already jacked. Hopefully before they shut the store down they have some bigger discounts. I'm hoping to snag some St Croix rods for a good price.

I have never really been much of a fan of that place (I loved their catalog as a kid) but I have a cool story from the first time I was in one of their stores.

When they first opened a store (years ago) about 20 minutes from my house I drove over there to check it out. It was of course very crowded and I managed to find a couple baits that I thought I needed.

While standing in the long line at the register, I began looking around at the pictures and things hanging on the walls around the perimeter of the store. It was then I spotted something kind of cool. They had a big picture of me hanging at the front of the store. Although I didn't get paid and didn't have any prior knowledge of it, I thought it was cool and told my wife and buddies about it.

On the flip side, years later I bought my first ever Glock pistol from them. It only came with one magazine so I decided to buy an extra, so I just grabbed one while I was there. I thought the $49.99 price tag was pretty steep but I had never shopped around for Glock magazines and didn't know what they cost elsewhere. A couple of days later I was shopping online and discovered that you could find them for half that price without even looking too hard.

I was pretty annoyed by that but lesson learned.

Hmmm....I scored an Avid X at our Gander a few weeks ago for $160, and a 201 Curado the week before that for a good price...

Also cleaned them out of one Senko color I use a lot of for 20% off and bought some other decent lures at that same discount.

The store close to me said the was liquidating and camping world is buying them out and there becoming gander outdoors. Said sell would last 12 more weeks.

Camping World bought the bankrupt business and re-branded it.  https://www.freep.com/story/news/2018/01/05/gander-mountain-outdoors-michigan/1006697001/

I'm failing to see their strategy to stand out from all the others.  Cabelas, BPS, On line alternatives are all first stops before I would consider Gander.  Their selection/merchandising was horrible, their service was horrible.

Hope "The Profit" has something up his sleeve!

It's completely new now so who knows what it will be like.  If people like Camping World maybe they'll like these.  Their website is already up.
