GoneFishingLTN Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 Is this a top rod for topwater baits? Like sexy dawgs and poppers? the 80 dollar price tag worries me Quote
riverbasser Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 All rods are preference. I'm sure it would work well tho however I prefer a shorter rod for walking baits but this comes down to your height as well. Also I'm assuming your talking about the veritas 2.0? I would wait if your not in a hurry, I think there going on sale soon due to a newer model coming out Quote
GoneFishingLTN Posted May 16, 2017 Author Posted May 16, 2017 I have a 7 foot frog rod I'm having a very hard time walking it fast I have to wait a couple seconds to move it to get it to go side to side also have to swipe the rod to the left or right not straight down Im hoping it's just lack of experience since I just bought it Quote
riverbasser Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 In order to walk a topwater left and right you must jerk with slack in the line and develop a cadence. If you can't work the rod straight its probably to do with it being to long for your height as I mentioned earlier. I use a 6'6 rod for top water and I still don't work it straight down but pretty close 1 Quote
GoneFishingLTN Posted May 16, 2017 Author Posted May 16, 2017 I'm 5"11 and my rod is 7 foot I've only used it on the bank so of course that is probably a big part of it. I may be snapping it to hard because I watched a video of ish and he looks like he's Barely moving his wrist. Quote

Being on the bank will definatley make t harder since your not above the water like you would be in a boat. Just keep practicing though and if you ever get a boat you"ll be a pro since your having to learn the hard way Quote
Dinger0306 Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 I have the first gen 7' M Veritas and it's a bit too long for working top waters. I prefer a 6' - 6'6 rod (and usually spinning gear). However, it's one hell of a weightless Senko rod. Tip loads well at about 1/4-3/8 and fishes closer to a MH. Quote
GoneFishingLTN Posted May 17, 2017 Author Posted May 17, 2017 I think I've decided to get a 6'3 mh moderate fast taper baitcasting rod Fitzgerald 1 Quote
