MO_LMB Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 Heading to Tablerock with my Dad to do some fishing at the end of June and Early May. Never had much luck at the lake. Not use to fishing that deep clear water. Any hints on what types of structure or what depths to be targeting for that time of the year. We'll be staying in the Kimberling City area. Spoons in play yet? Keitechs on a jig head or on a fish head spin? Topwater? Jig/Tube/Ned? Not looking for any specific spots (unless you're feeling generous in a pm... C&R angler here) just a sort of crash course on what spots to find while looking at a depth chart. Quote
hawkeye17 Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 Don't have any tips for ya but look forward to hearing how it goes. I'm thinking of making a trip soon as well. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted May 16, 2017 Global Moderator Posted May 16, 2017 Lake is way high right now and probably will be by the time you get there. If that's the case, it won't fish like it usually does around that time. A lot of fish are getting caught shallow on spinnerbaits and flipping baits in people's backyards, as well as on baits like the Ned Rig and a split shot rigged fish doctor on the old shoreline. Zero topwater bite to speak of that I've heard, but I don't see that continuing. Lots of good spots near KC, Schooner Creek being one of my favorites. Quote
rangerjockey Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 Right now we are still 12ft high. There's still a Swimbait bite going on. Otherwise I'm fishing the old bank line in the bushes or gravel with a shaky head or ned. Up the river ,if we have some wind I would try a spinnerbait I would think you could flip the bushes some . Of course Table rock can change daily so 2 weeks from now it probably will fish differently. If it's within your budget a half day trip with a guide is always a good idea. Quote
MO_LMB Posted May 18, 2017 Author Posted May 18, 2017 Thanks for the help guys, I'll check back in next week to see if there's any updated reports. Quote
SkeeterZX200 Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 This bait will catch a fish or two down there this time of the year. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Norman_DD_Series_Crankbaits/descpage-NLPECR.html Quote
TH-Outdoors Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 Any suggestions on colors for swimbaits/spinnerbaits and then on flipping plastics? Quote
rangerjockey Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 I throw nothing but war eagle spinnerbaits. I like spot remover, mouse, hot mouse and purple shad . With the water being stained now cole slaw would be a good option as well. I like the screamin eagle versions, or when things are tough the 1/4 oz versions. On the Keitechs , I like AYU, pro blue red pearl ,and sexy shad. I know some are throwing sight flash right know. When I flip its usually with jig, something like a Jakked dock roc or a jewel pro spider or a brush hog or a beaver style bait, usually green pumpkin or watermelon candy . Quote
Frisbie385 Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 We will be down there June 7th through the 11th. We will be staying on Indian Point. Hopefully we catch some! Quote
rangerjockey Posted May 20, 2017 Posted May 20, 2017 Another 3 inches of rain last night. I got out for a couple hours this afternoon. Still a spinnerbait bite ,but the better fish are coming out of the flooded bushes flipping a brush hog. For me anyway. Quote

Yeah, I'll be interested to see how the high water effects traffic this weekend. Once your on the lake I don't see many issues, but the weekenders might have some trouble finding places to park at ramps. Any deep bite yet that you've found, or have you just been flipping shallow? rangerjockey Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 I stayed at the old bank line mostly. I wouldn't bet against a deep bite, but honestly I haven't tried. There wasn't much boat traffic Saturday . Interested to see what the weekend brings, Just be careful running . Quote

How's that old bank line pattern holding up? Any topwater to speak of? Quote
MO_LMB Posted May 31, 2017 Author Posted May 31, 2017 Table Rock was great. Saturday was a good numbers day. Fished the flattest main lake stuff I could find. Best bait was a tube, Watermelon Red, dragged on the bottom. Also caught some on the ned, underspin and ball head with a keitech, and a Tackle HD hidef craw. Tube caught the numbers HiDef craw caught the bigger fish. Bigger fish came off submerged trees... not the brush or bushy trees, but solid tree trunks. Sunday wasn't as good on numbers, but caught the bigger fish. Also figured out a night bite. They wanted a black colorado spinnerbait burned below the surface. Quote
rangerjockey Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 Good trip..I've been wanting to try the hidef craw myself Quote
