I am trying to decide between a smartstrike card and a lakemaster card. I saw the same lake lists for both products and was wondering if the smartstrike showed all the lakemaster lakes. I know you need to have a hd map to use the smartstrike,  but will the smartstrike card still show the none hd lakes on my helix?

SmartStrike is a feature of HD waters, both Lakemaster High Definition Survey and High Definition Survey.

Since all the same lakes are on both products, there will be Standard Definition waters on both also, but those will not have the Smart Strike feature.

This is on the product page for the Mid-Atlantic region of SmartStrike:

All lakes below are included on the
MidAtlantic SmartStrike Version 1 and the LakeMaster  Version 1 map card. SmartStrike search functionality is only available on the High Definition maps.

The current SmartStrike card for your region will have all the same lakes as the current Lakemaster card for your region but includes the SmartStrike features on the HD lakes.

SmartStrike is a Lakemaster chip...

To expand on what HBirdDeborahCRC said, I bought SmartStrike (the brand new WI version) this season.  I moved my older Lakemaster Plus chip to my bow unit and SmartStrike is the only chip in the unit...it works fine all by itself.

We do not need a an additional chip with HD lakes in the machine to run SmartStrike...at least with a Helix 12 G2N.

As an aside, tried it for the first time last night as a test...pretty cool.  I'll be playing with the WI chip locally, even though I know the lakes I fish pretty well...so that I know how to use it well by the time I get to Lake of the Woods in early July.

Further clarification:  There are no "HD" cards.  There are "High Definition Surveys" on the cards.

There is:

  1. Standard definition
  2. High Definition Survey
  3. Lakemaster High Definition Survey.

To two map levels with High Definition are the ones with the Smart Strike feature. Standard definition waters do not have the Smart Strike feature.

Same map card.

(I had help with this, you know who you are, and thanks!)

Thank everyone for all the help. Looks like I'm going to buy a smart strike card
