Super User Redlinerobert Posted December 21, 2006 Super User Posted December 21, 2006 Has anyone actually fished while they were using this system? What are your thoughts? Quote
Super User Sam Posted December 21, 2006 Super User Posted December 21, 2006 Redline, I want to get the Bisonixunit, too, and have asked my wife for it for Christmas. If I don't get it I will purchase it myself after January 1st. And super news about your boat. Have fun but be sure to watdh for the legal speed limit on some lakes. Are you going to add any other accessories to the Ranger other than the Bisonix? I plan to have the wires installed under the decking and to the trolling motor and keep the unit in a compartment so I can remove it when not in use. There is an on-board unit in the planning stage but it will not come out until this coming summer. Please let us know how you do with and without the unit on. Many of us guys on the forum want to know. Merry Christmas Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted December 21, 2006 Author Super User Posted December 21, 2006 Thanks Sam, I'm curious though if anyone here has any experience with the unit. If I do end up getting it I'll keep you posted ; Quote
Zel Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 I use a poor man's Bisonix. I throw a Rat'l'trap (liv-N-sound) occasionally while I'm fishing, to try and get the fish activated. Quote
Super User senile1 Posted December 21, 2006 Super User Posted December 21, 2006 I throw Rapala crankbaits and while I'm reeling them back in I stick my head under the water and make shad noises. Kevin Van Dam has used it and says he can see a difference. You might google him and the biosonix and see what you can find. Quote

Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted December 22, 2006 Super User Posted December 22, 2006 I HEAR THAT, JDW174, RAP MUSIC MAKES ME WANT SMASH THE RADIO. BACK TO THE SUBJECT. I SAW AN INTERVIEW WITH KEVIN NAN DAMM. HE SAID THERE WAS NO DOUBT IN HIS MIND, THE BIOSONIX WAS THE REASON HE WON THE 2005 CLASSIC. FALCON Quote
Super User Sam Posted December 22, 2006 Super User Posted December 22, 2006 Have any shown up on ebay? I hope they are less costly than ordering them. Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted December 22, 2006 Author Super User Posted December 22, 2006 I will start searching Ebay - but yes at $700 they aren't cheap. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted December 23, 2006 Super User Posted December 23, 2006 A little rich for my blood. Redline, I will buy your used one when you buy the new model!! Quote
cabela10 Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 I think these units are slowly being illegal to use in tournaments, so check into that also. I believe they are illegal in the Elite Series. Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted December 23, 2006 Author Super User Posted December 23, 2006 If that is true Cabela then it must mean that they work If they do work I can only imagine how useful they wuld be out here in deep lakes, especially fishing for stripers. Quote
Guest avid Posted December 24, 2006 Posted December 24, 2006 I would be shocked to learn that any gadget sold for profit would be banned by BASS or FLW. If true, it only means they need to "grease the wheel" and the universe will be restored to it's natural order. Quote
cabela10 Posted December 25, 2006 Posted December 25, 2006 Exactly like the Aqua-Vu camara's are banned during competition. So I'm not sure why this would shock you that a gadget like the BioSonix would be banned. Got this from another site...I knew I heard it was banned someplace. "In an effort to level the playing field for all competitors, BASS disallowed the BSX at the '06 Classic at Florida's Lake Toho on the premise that not all anglers had access to the units. There are no restrictions on their use in the Bassmaster Elite Series, however, and anglers employing them have compiled a hefty share of the wins and high placements." Another fact about it from the same website. "A BASS communications official said this week that the BSX will be banned at the 2007 Classic in Birmingham, Ala., but will be allowed on the '07 Elite Series. Requests for comment from FLW Outdoors regarding its use in FLW Tour and Series events have gone unfulfilled." Quote
Supermat Posted December 25, 2006 Posted December 25, 2006 I got to fish with a unit once and I would definetely say that it made an improvement in the bite. Its a fascinating device... doesn't work right away, seems like the fish have to warm up to it for 10 or 20 minutes. Quote
Cephkiller Posted December 26, 2006 Posted December 26, 2006 Does the Biosonix manuacturer have a patent on the concept of playing baitfish sounds underwater? I don't think that is a patentable. Why don't we see others manufacturing simpler and less costly units? I believe that a simple underwater speaker and a playback device (i.e. mp3 player, cassette player, cd player) would do the trick without all the complicated electronic sampling schemes offered on the BSX.
