I went trout fishing in the snow and ice probably close to a foot deep with tennis shoes on was cold as heck then slipped off the bank into the icy river but caught a sappling that saved me from fully submerging my body and basically blew my knee out instead of going to the drs i went to cvs and bought a knee brace. The next day i left for florida to go fishing! My knee hurt for at least 4 months lol

So many painful memories. I've been hooked more times than I'd like, one time was connected via #11 Original Rapala to my panicked mutt that decided to grab the bait midair. My dad drug a deep diving crank across the top of my head on his backcast. Stepped on a rusty piece of chicken wire that stabbed into my big toe to the bone before breaking off in my toe. Took the Dr some digging to get that one out. Had a Locust thorn go through my shoe and break off in the arch of my foot. Almost tore off my thumbnail getting it smashed between the ball and the hitch loading the boat up. Been cut by every kind of line out there. Been stuck and sliced by a few catfish fins and got to deal with the burning, nausea, sweats that comes with that. Stepped out of the truck onto my smooth shop floor with muddy/wet shoes a couple weeks ago and went down hard partially on the shop floor and partially in the door jam of my truck.

Probably the most painful was missing my step trying to step out of my old johnboat on the river boat ramp after a night of catfishing. Tried to step on the trailer, missed completely and fell flat on my back and slammed the back of my head on the rough concrete boat ramp. I saw stars for several minutes as I laid there hoping I wasn't bleeding too badly from my head before I got up and walked on my wobbly legs to the truck. Had a pounding headache for the next few days from it, glad I didn't end up in the water though.

The first time I used a redeye shad, I hook a fish on the 12th cast.  I reel it in and it's a catfish.  I go to unhook the catfish and it flops around and the hook that's not in the catfish goes underneath my right index fingernail past the barb.  The catfish and my finger are connected and the catfish keeps flopping around.  There's blood all over my shirt and the people walking past are probably thinking it's the fish's blood.  Wrong!

Luckily, the catfish flops around so much that the hole in my finger gets bigger and I am able to pull the hook out.

Unfortunately, my finger really hurts, and since I use spinning tackle, my fishing day is done after only 12 casts.

Ratltrap treble in finger past the barb with pi$$ed off 3 lb bass on other treble.  Could get it out.  To ER I went.  A lot of these stories remind me why I don't mess with catfish.

I had two major painful episodes in my fishing life, both of them had a Mr. Northern Pike envolved! One was the first time i tried to hold a pike by the gill plate... and ended up with two of my fingers completely sliced, the amount of blood looked like something out of horror movie! The other was the time i stupidly tried to unhook one rapala max rap from a pikes mouth and ended up with one treble stucked in my finger... with the pike still atached to the other treble and trashing around!

After those two episodes i learned my lesson...  bought a grip holder, a set of long nose pliers and never had that kind of problems again...

I was fishing from the shore one time, walking around on rip rap when the rock I stepped on turned over on me.  My knee came down on the edge of the rock and I felt something in my knee go crunch.  I ended up with about a 3/8" round hole in my knee, and fractured knee cap.

Most painful part was by the time I got to the ER, my knee has swollen up and I couldn't bend it at all.  When I went in for x-rays the tech said I would have to bend my knee for one of the pics.  When I told him it wouldn't bend, the nurses bent if for me.

Well - yesterday...I experienced the most pain while fishing yet to date.

Me and my son were fishing shell beds and absolutely killing them.  We were catching fish on every cast.  It was the 3rd cast in a row that we had doubled up.  We were catching hybrid bass and largemouth.  The hybrids (if you've never caught them) are aggressive and fun to catch.

While holding the fish by the belly to remove the treble hooks from his mouth, he thrashed violently - slipping from my hand...and catching my finger on the way down.

I find myself on my hands and knees on the floor of the boat, with my finger hooked in the same treble that the fish has hooked in his mouth....fish still thrashing violently...

I tell my son to leave his fish alone for a moment, and come unhook this fish - before he rips my finger off lol.

Got the fish unhooked...and headed back to the ramp.  My son, who is 13...was a great help.  He helped put the trolling motor away, and helped trailer the boat...

We were fishing Spro Lil John crankbaits...as seen above

I went straight home, cut the hook and tried to expose the barb (it was lodged just inside the exit wound) to pull it out.  I was unsuccessful and had to head to the ER.

After a tetanus and a few shots to deaden my finger...yank yank - and all was good.

One of the best days and worst days - all wrapped into one.

A roller coaster of emotions.  It was crazy.

As much fishing as we do, I knew this was inevitable.

I always wrap my hand before pulling on mono or flouro for this reason.

Holy moly what a thread.  I can almost feel the pain.  Not painful, but scary.  Took my folks fishing and my mom fell out of the boat.  Luckily she reacted quickly and grabbed the rail and didn't go completely under.  Scared the bejesus out of me.

Happened to me a fishing with my dad when I was about 12 years old. I finished the trip without socks that day. Dug a hole and buried those nasty things. Lol?

Once I had to wipe with a leaf... which turned out to be poison ivy...

It was apparently already damaged, squatted down to plug my trolling motor in, fell on the floor in pain, couldn't straighten my knee.

Went Statcare, x-rays, pain meds, Walmart cheap knee brace & crutches.

Monday after I got home straight into surgery, even got a video of the surgery.

Wanna see it?

when i was little i was big into catfishing but i had just got a new push button before i could throw anything else and got one of my dads bass lures and decided to see how i liked my new rod before school and first cast i caught about a 8 pounder and the first thing that came to mind was my mom was gonna kill me so i pull it up and try not to touch it a lot cause i already took a shower and he flopped and drove the treble hook extremely depp and my mom was still asleep so i was down on the pier screaming for her because the other treble hook was in the fish and had to go to the doctor and get it cut out and got to miss a day of school

Anyone who has had a kidney stone feels your pain.  I know I do.  My neighbors now all think I'm a drunk because I was puking in my yard at 5 in the morning while waiting for my ride to come to bring me to the hospital.

I wouldn't have guessed it!  Mine hasn't passed (or that I could ever tell-it just stopped hurting).  I'd swear it was/is shaped like a cockle burr, though.   What's worse is that I don't even have something to put under my pillow for the kidney stone fairy.
