Also I need a few of each size and a few different colors. just like 3 of each size and each size 3 different colors. Can anyobdy help for the essentials for bass fishing? Quote
brent245 Posted May 11, 2017 Posted May 11, 2017 Well you need some terminal tackle to begin with. Other than that, assorted senkos 5-6", a couple chatterbaits, lipless crank, squarebill crank, jigs, topwater like a popper, frog, whopper plopper or pompadour. If you want to be creative get some creature baits or lizard, maybe a spinnerbait and a jerkbait. I've not had any luck with spinners or jigs where I live. I feel a chatterbait replaces a spinner. I typically don't bother with any lures under 3/8 oz, and I typically don't throw any crankbaits smaller than 2.5". I prefer 4/0 hooks for nearly all bass fishing unless you plan on getting a monster in heavy cover. If you fish primarily deep water get some deep dive cranks. When I was first starting I thought if the lure was too big the bass wouldn't go after it, but I've found even 10" bass will grab a big bait. I've gotten a 10" fish on my 7" rat. Quote
Super User Fishes in trees Posted May 11, 2017 Super User Posted May 11, 2017 Lure decisions - you've got to make those yourself, depending on disposable income, local conditions and how you like to fish. Fish out of a boat or bank bound? Spinning gear or bait casting? Fish by yourself or with friends/acquaintances? Do you fish in ponds? larger lakes? Streams? Rivers? Quote

idabass Posted May 12, 2017 Posted May 12, 2017 If I was to start over I would buy zoom plastics more than any other brand. 4-5$ a bag and you get plenty (20 with trick worms). They don't make every style (swim baits unfortunately) but have a lot of good ones to fill the majority of needs. Look for people selling tackle lots either here or on auction sites. You can cut cost down while deciding what baits work best for your fishing style. Quote
RMax Posted May 12, 2017 Posted May 12, 2017 Pack of Havoc Pit boss's Strike King Red Eye Shad 1.5 3/8 oz Silver Spinnerbait Whopper plopper (or Buzzbait if on a budget) Senkos (or Stik-o's if on a budget) 3/8 oz bullet weight 3/0 EWG hooks If you have extra money to spend get: Ned Rig stuff, Wacky Rig/Drop Shot hooks, Drop shot weights, Zoom Trick Worms, Rage craws. If you have the money, get variety of colors! Quote

More times then not u are just getting junk someone else don't want any More Start by finding what style of fishing u like to do then go From there no point in having deep diving crank baits if ur a shallow water Angler or having alot of crabkbaits to find out you like fishing slop Quote
